It seems that with the new format for the ansett cup that percentage could be the decider. Most don't expect any change in groups 1,2,3 but in group 4 Hawthorn could beat Essendon but need to win by a couple of goals (eg 66 points to 54) in order to qualify. But it's even more complex in that if the Doggies give the Eagles another thrashing - say by seven goals (102 to 60) then their percentage would be better and Hawks would need to win by more than two goals
So at 11:00 on sunday we may be singing the Hawks song but Essendon will be looking forward to a semi final.
Before Dan24 and others remind me that Hawthorn has not beaten a full strength Essendon side in recent years, I'm just saying it's possible, and we may need our calculators at the footy. If the scores are higher than Hawks will need to win by more to reverse the percentage - which is 138 to 123 at the moment
