Just been about 5 different threads and in every single one there is trade suggestions with Cale Hooker. The bigfooty drums are beating, and Hooker is on the move. Not exactly sure what trade he will be apart of or what he will command in a trade, but I think all Hooker related trades should be confined to this Thread, rather than destroying every other thread! :thumbsu:

No one watch his first half of the year when he didnt have an injury?

Where else can you get a ready made key positional defender? thats beaten guys like J.Riewoldt. Also had over 20 posses 4 times times this year usually when he hasnt had a gun forward to play on, so must know how to position himself to impact the contest. I dont think Essendon can afford to lose a starting FB/CHB. The club would be crazy to let him go unless a club has to pay overs in need of a key back and Essendon see it as worth doing.

Pears will go before Hooker.

Hooker will stay.

FYI I think
Hooker is a solid defender without being outstanding. I just don't understand why every single thread on this board is discussing him as a trade option when he probably won't be going anywhere anyway!

He can't be that good because apparently every Essendon supporter wants to get rid of him
Yeah, no.

The simple fact is if we want to get a decent midfielder, then we have to give up a good deal. We have three good young KPB which is a rare commodity, so if we were going to offer up some quality, Pears or Hooker would be two likely options.

suns knocked back hooker and a first rounder last year so it might take a little bit more to get the gc to bite
Caddy was also contracted last year as well, which meant that GC could be as barbaric as they wanted with their demands (they would only accept Hurley).

This year however, he is out of contract. With speculation of Tippett leaving, that brings in a potential three way deal with Adelaide.

If it involves GC getting Tippett, Essendon getting Caddy, and the Crows getting Hooker, then thanks, but no thanks.

Obviously that wouldn't be the deal.

Something like Monfries and Pears plus a few draft picks worked in.
Oh great, a free agent, a guy who can't make your best 22, and some dud draft picks. Unlike Essendon with Caddy, GC actually have the currency to get a deal for Tippett done.

Restricted free agent.

Pears is best 22 when fit.

You don't think Gold Coast don't have some decent draft picks they could on trade to us which could be passed on to you?

Who cares whether or not he's a restricted free agent? We have no use for him, can't imagine GC do either.

Yes, they do, but what I can't figure out, is why they'd bother when they could just trade them to us? What exactly are you going to give them to obtain those draft picks?

Bad news brother. GC are in a better position this year than last regardless of Caddy's contract situation. More Vic clubs have good first round picks to trade, with clubs like Melbourne and the Dogs having multiple top 10 selections.

Caddy has to agree to the trade, you realise?

He can make those clubs irrelevant if he wants.

I do.

And you do realise GC have to agree to the trade too?

If caddy wants to get back to vic the club only need tell him to accept a trade else run the guantlet in the ND at the risk of ending up anywhere in Australia.

Let's make this the Caddy thread.

One thing is guaranteed: if Caddy goes into the draft he won't last until Essendon's first pick
Caddy knows this, the Suns know this, the Bombers know this.

Another thing is guaranteed: it will be hard for Essendon to match other offers.
Once GC refute Essendon's best offer because it's not the best overall offer, Caddy has to choose between going to another club via the draft (and screwing the suns), or working out a deal with a Melbourne club (who would have picked him up anyway in the draft), or staying at GC.

Unless the bombers can get close to the best overall offer (meaning GC agree to a slightly lesser offer to do right by Caddy), then they can't get him.

Packaging players with picks GC won't use is not going to get it done.

Glad we're discussing Caddy again. It's been at least a day.
We're getting so much more new, relevant stuff in these threads.

Let's just do a complete summary:
Non-Essendon person: "Essendon don't have many picks to get it done"
Essendon person: "Yes, but if he still wants to come to Essendon at any cost, that won't matter too much"
Non-Essendon person: "Yes, but Essendon don't have many picks to get it done"
Essendon person: "Did you read my last post?"
Non-Essendon person: "Well, OK. But why would he want to go to Essendon? Dees or Dogs will put bids in. Essendon don't have many picks to get it done"
Essendon person: "Because he did last year, pretty obviously. That might have changed, but from what we're hearing it hasn't"
Non-Essendon person: "But Essendon don't have many picks to get it done"
...

Rinse & repeat...

Mods, you can close this one down now.

Pears is putrid, judging on Friday.
Absolutely rubbish. And has clearly lost the faith of the coaching staff

Hooker won't go anywhere and Essendon won't make any decent trades this off-season. We rate our players too highly. We're too picky when it comes to trading our own players. I'd be shocked if Hooker or Monfries were traded.
Although, is there any chance that other clubs won't bother bidding for Daniher? I noticed that Dylan Buckley (a top under 17's player in the country) was taken by Carlton with their last pick because no one else bidded. I know it's a long shot but I'm hoping we get the same luck because then we'd be able to throw it our first pick with an average player. I highly doubt that it'll happen though.
