Might want to add Warnock to this little list of players from melbourne perhaps seeking new homes (whom btw i think would be a good fit at richmond)

Assuming Scully stays, it would be almost guaranteed that one of these two blokes will be headed to GWS

I can see the saints and perhaps the dogs having an interest in a matthew bate

theyre probably both worth an early 2nd rounder at this stage of their careers

It's interesting I know that they are two very much maligned players but they do have talent. I think a lot of people would be surprised at their value in the open market.

Morton to stay for mine when Scully goes and Bate to request a trade to whoever is willing.

People forget how good Morton was in his first two seasons then was hit with a few serious injuries and now most people think he is a dud!

Prior to this season Trent Cotchin had done nothing (yes he had injuries) so if you think about it Morton and Cotchin have done similar things in their short AFL careers.

If you think Morton is in the same class as Cotchin, why do Melbourne supporters want to off load him? Even with injuries in his first two years, Cotchin showed rare class that gladdenned the hearts of tiger supporters.
I don't think you really understood my post...Morton and Cotchin are two different players but what I'm saying is that Morton in his first 2 seasons was WAY better then Cotchin no matter what you or anyone else says and heaps of Melbourne supporters loved Cale back then. Now that Morton has hit bad form most people think he is a dud  This is Cotchin's first good year whether you believe it or not!

A lot of supporters jump on and off their players very fast another e.g of this is Aaron Davey. He has been a brilliant player for Melbourne since he start in 2004 and now that he is having a shit year heaps of people think he's a dud and want him traded. I have more e.g's if you want to hear them?

Back to my point, yes Cotchin is currently better and probably (most likely) will end up as the better player, Cale is still skilled and a smart footballer. I bet if he was coached by someone like Clarkson we would see his best! Why not throw him on a wig and allow him to run, or put him a forward for a while? No, let's put him down back...

we play him down back so he can develop a defensive side so as to remove the front running mentality from his game.
YOU wanting to play him forward or on the wing will only widen the down hill skis he already plays on.

Bullshit.
Davey started on fire in 2004-2006.
Was average at best 2007-2008
Won the b&f in 2009. Mainly due to his good 12 weeks, teams hadn't worked his cheap possession game. Struggled in the second half of that year, only won the b&f because we were so crap nobody desearved it.
Almost walked out on us at the end of the year before coming back to usually shitness in 2010-2011.

OMG you can't be serious, one week people love him and the next week he's a dud. I guess you always thought Mark Jamar was a superstar then? lol Stef Martin? etc Supporters are funny!!!

How did he walk out of us? He was trying to get the best deal for himself kinda like what Scully is doing... Umm didn't Brad Green want to leave a few years back as well? It seem you forgot about that one....

Lost the love for Davey a long time ago. Tell me what has Davey done on a footy field that has been good in the last 2 years? He looks great when he runs around the back and gets cheap handballs to him.

Jamar I didn't think much of until 2008 I will admit that, I was wrong. Stef Martin I have always liked, I just thought he was played out of position.

There was an article in the Herald-Sun or the Age where he said he has made up his mind to leave Melbourne until he spoke to his mum and she was the one who pretty much talked him out of it.

Bate is McLean mkII, only difference is that he is a forward.

A few years ago he looked like he could be a star, then everyone realised he was too slow for a small forward and too short for a tall forward
He's the same height as Pav and Q-stick, probably similar speed.

Problem is his lack of all-round athleticism and lack of ability. A big left foot is all he has imo.

Cheap handballs? Do you even understand what his role in the team is? I wasn't aware that his role was to be at the bottom of the packs getting the ball out... I actually thought it was for him to use his brilliant skills and create play for us, hence why he gets tagged week in week out!!!! Just because someone is out of form doesn't mean they should get the arse...

Davey never said he was pretty much gone, he said he thought about it (as most players do when their contract is up) so Brad Green? Should we get rid of him 2 then?

Supporters jump the gun on too many players, Moloney was injured for so long and has only come good the last few years, should we have given him the boot? Sylvia?

Both would easily find homes elsewhere, but the demons would be hard pressed to get adequate trade offers...they would at least free up salary cap so the demons can better secure the futures of their other young stars so if they are willing to accept 3rd round picks then clubs would look.

You're user name does you no favours here.

Face it, Davey has been "out of form" since other sides started noticing him at the start of last year. He falls to pieces under a tag and that contest he squibbed against St. Kilda was the last straw for him. ****ing lucky he was 'injured'.

Unless he comes back and plays as the high intencity small forward which we need and we know he can play, he can run around for Casey until next season.

No point pointlessly questioning peoples username as part of discussions...For when was the last time the demons won a flag ("high flying flag"), and in my case...what the hell is a balony pony?????

Cue...back on topic :)

"it's a grand old flag, it's a high flying flag, it's the emblem for me and for you'

I love my club song, you love sausages and horses and she loves Aaron Davey.

Everyone has a little talent, but I think his over-rated. Also, seems like a mentally fragile, inconsistent guy with so many fluctuations form-wise from week to week.
I haven't seen him lately but last season I remember he had a booming kick and a nice mark. He was a valuable player. From what people have written thought is sounds as if he's turned from chocolates into boiled lollies.

IMO Bate has AFL talent but i agree that he is mentally fragile. After injury, He is a notoriously slow starter and it takes 4 or 5 weeks for him to get his form going. In the last 3 odd years, we've lacked good players and he's been giving the luxury of finding his form in the afl but not this year as other players have stepped up.

At his best his hands are sticky and marks everything on the lead. Not a great overhead. Booming kick and shot for goal and massive engine. Great speed but poor agility. He loses confidence easily and can start fumbling even the simplest marks. Non existent opposite foot. Also with MFC not having a big forward, he's struggled playing as the main man.

As for Cale, stick with him. Like Bate loses confidence in himself way too easily. He can play a few more roles.

Warnock is a good shut down defender. Like Rivers, not a great offensive player and you can't have 2 in the same team.

Bate's problems are he:
1 Struggles to mark over head
2 is so left-sided it's not funny
3 Is poor below his knees
4 Cannot jump
5 Is playing out of position. Should be tried off a half back flank.

Yeah you always find some dumb Melbourne supporters on here. How they forget all the good things players like Davey have done for our club...no doubt "High flying falg" was bagging Mark Jamar a few years back and wanted Stef Martin sacked!!!!! :)

Rhys Palmer comp pick for Morton.
I struggle to see him in the team myself. Bradley is borderline as our tall utility, and we have Pitt developing who seems similar to Morton in my mind. And then of course we have Morabitto as a tall game-busting utility/mid.

For the compo pick we would be looking for a KPP back or forward surely, not someone like Morton who will struggle for selection.

FFS He has been out of form for almost 2 years......but your right lets let him play in the seniors to 250 games without having to earn it.
