Re NZ Recession, was that before or after the Christchurch Earthquake, because that did really root NZ pretty badly over.

OT: Cale has been good so far, deserves the praise he's been getting. Hope he can keep it up, has started to look good the past couple of games.

Re NZ Recession, was that before or after the Christchurch Earthquake

The recession hit NZ 2 years before the first of those two earthquakes.

And yeah, I'm thinking the Hawthorn game should be another good test for Cale. Given that he achieved 20 possessions with 75% efficiency against the Cats, including 7 contested ball wins and 3 tackles by the way, I can easily see him having another strong performance against the Hawks.

Cale has had a good crack the past few weeks, kudos to him, but the dreams of a quality player taken with pick 4 in the draft are well and truly gone. Only a matter of time before he is back at Casey IMO.

It's depressing but we just have to look at him as a player rather then a pick 4. He is good enough to carve out a career as a role player.

I guess it's not his fault he went at number 4...

He is the product of our fascination with drafting athletic skinny kids, with the aim of 'filling them out'....

Just want him to be in our best 22, when we start winning games against good sides. That for him would be a pass mark!

I still have big hopes for Cale actually, especially as he is starting to win his own ball a bit.. he has a massive tank and his kicking can be good (while sometimes shit) it was just his desire which was the problem.. he is turning it around and he actually reminds me a lot of what has happened with Stanton at Essendon..

He's a player who I believe will improve more and more as we improve..

Agree with lose, his kicking is interesting as it's generally his shorter kicks which miss targets and his long ones which are a weapon.

When we start improving our uncontested possession numbers Cale will benefit from that with his running ability.

Yep, next week.

An absolute disgrace so far tonight.

He isn't the only one. Been far better than others over the last few weeks, just an easy whipping boy.

Agree with both above - first half was poor but his second half has been terrific. One of our only winners really.

Lol at people criticising him.

Rude, I assume you were booing him for his clanger like the old boys

I thought he had a dog of a 2nd quarter, not half, his first i saw him putting his body on the line in the first, and was alot better after half time imo.

Still ****s up too many of his kicks. Also feel that Neelds game plan doesn't let him do what he is capable of, running the wings...

The 50m against him was shithouse. Cant stand it when an umpire misses a free (or in this case called a mark from a 10m kick) then compounds it by giving the 50.

It's beyond me how Cale Morton is castrated by the media while others go completely under the radar with there shit efforts.

An example would be Bennell, saw him squib a few contests and his decision making was poor.

Morton made some terrible kicking decision, but I like the fact he kicked the ball long and didn't think twice on several occasions.

The decision against him in Hawthorn's forward 50 was an absolute joke. Think it was Puopolo, just fell over and played for the free

Bennell didn't squib... he simply just didn't go into contests at all. The amount of times he just stood and watched other players (usually Jamar) go up 2-on-1 made me so angry. Cale has a go and i thank him for it.

Agree I saw seen him run at the contest a couple of times and thought his tackling pressure was pretty good on occasions (Cale)

I also noticed Davey's pressure up on previous weeks (6 tackles) and thought he spread better than any of our other players.

He's like all the Morton kids, he's got the talent. Anyone that says he hasn't is talking shit. He's just got to do something about his physique. With a bit of beef on him, negative threads about Cale Morton would cease to exist. I'd go as far as to say the same about Jack Watts.

I assume you are talking about how he dead set shinned it right angles on his left side uncontested on the full at half back during the second quarter?

Kicks like that make Simon Godfrey silky smooth.

No point booing him, waste of my breath.
