It was a case of Matty Who?
When he made the firsts that day
Midway through the last he got on
In an unspectacular way
Ten minutes before they stopped
He was dragged and back in his seat
And Rhoder hollered as he trudged off
"Remember not to call me Pete"
But then we copped another ACL and so it seemed
That maybe Matty Boyd would hold his place in the Western Bulldogs team


His critics called him hopeless, just can't kick, no good below his knees
"Well Matty Boyd has gotta go, Gimme a break please"
"There's Murphy in the twos he never gets a go"
Rhoder said it was a shame but Matty's just too slow.
"He's never gonna help us win a flag and so it seems
That Matty Boyd ain't good enough to make the Western Bulldogs team."

They should've recollected when they canned our Matty so
Some other players made the grade after starting kinda slow
And one of them by the name of Lindsay Gilbee
Is now a star and best kick in the AFL, I see
So Mrs Boyd was right to say it seems so mean
That Matty Boyd can't get a game in the Western Bulldogs team.


But Rodney Eade said "Matty you can be a player all right"
"Just plug away, mate and keep your aim in sight"
"That bound'ry rider Dipper showed them all that he could play"
"Though two years in the ressies sure was a lengthy stay"
"Oh, by the way,
You just remember, Matty, that I hold you in high esteem"
"And I reckon there's a place for you in the Western Bulldogs team"

A year has come 'n' gone since Rocket put his faith in Matty Boyd
His contribution in the midfield is a fact we can't avoid
But they found someone else to bag [yeah I know its astonishing]
At least Mrs Boyd is happy and that's a good thing
And though fringe players always cop the blame, to me it seems
We should support them, just like all of those on the Western Bulldogs team.

I think a new rule needs to be installed

If any poster deliberately lies or insinuates that another poster said something they did not which includes twisting words and/or using a single sentence out of a conversation they should receive an infraction.

Sad attempts to get others banned simply because they don’t like them is just that.... sad.

Some of the things I have been portrayed as saying are absolute lies and I’ve seen the same done to immortal, scrap and others.

I’m more than happy to live under this rule and take DOUBLE infractions for any breaking of it on my behalf.

Not sure all the discussion is what I expected when I created this post. However on reflection it has been good to hear a lot of views and I have got a lot of likes. I may not agree with a lot of what Mattdougie has said but he has raised some reasonable points and has agreed to certain concessions with some conditions. Lets move on and if posters just have second thoughts when posting negative comments to not make them personal then that is a good result.

Example last season when discussing Collins getting a game in the seniors I think I said something like he is to slow, no skills and hopeless in hindsight what I should have said was something like I do not think his skills and form warrant selection.

No you were right he was too slow!

Seriously I am certainly in the more positive posting camp often being criticised for defending the club at all times. However I am a great believer in everyone being able to support their team however the hell they like and if that’s being negative and overly critical then so be it. I have had many arguments with people on here but I try not to take them personally as at the end of the day we all barrack for the same mighty club!
