Ahh so you say mw3 weapon list was more balanced after patches? Oh ok so you shouldnt be judging BO2 balance just yet seeing as you know there has only been one patch that affects guns.

Oh and i've played all the cods except mw3 and spin offs so I have enough knowledge to know that this game is the best balanced cod game pre patches. Yes the maps suit SMGs the best it doesn't make them OP which is my entire point. People throw the term OP over everything when it isn't. No gun in this game is head and shoulders above the rest. NOTHING IN THIS GAME IS OP.

When did I say mw3 was horseshit?

A whole class of weapons is overpowered. Not one single weapon, a whole class. That's the whole point. In almost any single situation the smg's are a better choice of gun. Forget the obvious advantages of using a smg, like the ability to run faster. We're talking about ridiculous accuracy from the hip, at range. Huge bullet capacities. Ability to out shoot assault rifles with ease at range. That, coupled with the map design, makes even using an assault rifle trying to compete against a smg a futile task. If you are going to build tiny maps but still have the smg's be able to out-shoot assault rifles, make assault rifles be able to compete with smg's in close quarters situations.
It really depends how you play with each class, you can't be in the middle of the map where all the action is and expect to win 1 v 1's against SMG's at close range. If you are further away from them an assault rifle will normally win.

After tweaking a couple of individual guns it was perfectly fine. Even before the patch. Not whole classes of guns.

Having a game catered towards one class of guns + balanced game doesn't necessarily compute. Also, no, you don't have enough knowledge at all that this is the best balanced cod game pre patches. You haven't played mw3, don't you see how that works? Yes the maps suit SMG's in this game but you miss my entire point also of not making guns more competitive against smg's close range engagements, but smg's being able to out shoot assault rifles across the map.

There is only 8 games out so it isnt hard for it to be in the good half especially when Black Ops, MW3 were horse shit.

Gimpy_ is it a case of the SMG's being OP or are the maps are poorly designed to not allow the other weapon classes to use their strengths?

The first set of DLC might be a bunch of bigger more open maps for AR's and semi auto's....

So you want them to buff AR so they are equal with smgs close range? Then everyone would use AR seeing as AR wins 9/10 times at medium-long range. Neither of us are arguing about the same thing. I'm saying nothing is OP and you seem to be bitching about everyone using SMGs. Or is your point because everyone uses SMGs they must be OP? Guess bolts were OP in vCod and 2 then. Bitch about the maps not the guns as they are fine.

Look, certainly the majority of the maps are designed this way (the whole game for that matter, taking into account the new ghost perk, etc)... but in the general sense I believe they are OP. Treyarch looks like they recognise this, with their broad changes across the smg class regarding hip firing potency and some recoil tweaks. I know that traditional OP means we would talk about one or two particular guns that are way too good, like the W@W mp40. But when you can out shoot assault rifles comfortably at med-longish range (supposedly the assault rifles' strength) yet hip fire your tits off and the other guy having such a slim chance, there needs to be changes. I mean, not even bothering with the left trigger, it's that ridiculous.

As a comparison, MW3 (which some guy didn't play but says it was horse shit) went down the same route with their maps! IMO if we replaced the blops 2 guns with the mw3 guns, it would be a different story. I'd take a g36c on Hijacked and beast it up without fear of being hip fired from way over there, for sure. Even maps like Turbine, which is supposed to be a map catered to some long range engagements, it's just an smg fest with a couple of snipers sitting up on the bridge.

Shouldn't have to buy DLC to make a whole class of guns relevant either, won't be buying that.

but smg's being able to out shoot assault rifles across the map.
they can do that in any cod though.
imo they certainly aren't superior at medium-long range than assaults.

maps def seem more suited to an smg style however which add to them being so prolific.
the hip firing being so accurate also leans to shotgun/smg reflex spray shots but all guns are strong at hipfire that i've tried.

i think the thing that may see smg's winning more long range battles in this than in mw3 is more to do with less flinching when being shot.
in mw3 in a long range battle against an assault for example while using an smg the extra flinch sees you lose out more often against an assault.
as a base you flinch less on blops2. then add in toughness and you basically don't flinch at all. so personally i feel rather than the guns themselves being overpowered, the games design lends itself better to close quarters weapons....regardless of that it doesn't make them superior to an assault/sniper mid-long range.

don't get me wrong smg's are def strong in blops2 but my personal opinion is that they're not overpowered.
if they were actually on par/better than assaults at medium-long range which i personally don't believe they are, then i'd say they're OP (think ump in mw2 which could 2 bullet kill at long range over an assault with ease as well as dominating it up close).

They have patched the smg's hip fire because they were so much better than any other gun. The others strong? Me thinks not. Plus which account are you using these guns on? (didn't check elite today btw, was checking you out last week!)

well you'd bloody hope smg's hip fire is better than the other guns cause close range is sposed to be its strength!
i do think hip-fire in general is a touch ott in blops2 though (for all guns)....it's an extra half better than the hipfire in cod4 for crying out loud which had it right in the sweet spot imo.

either way i thought we were talking about smg's as a whole being OP, outshooting assaults at mid-long range which as far as i'm concerned while being strong for the games design, they're not OP as they still lose out solidly to assaults at that range.
i mean assaults win at least as many close range hip fire battles than smg's win mid-long range shooting from my experience so really it balances out a bit in the end......not having a go or anything. just putting in my 2 cents from my perspective.

also i assume you're talking about playing with assaults?
i've picked them up while playing on my account rarely but the main account for playing assaults is my future brother in laws who's class set-up is all assaults but his psn is basically his full name so there's no chance i'll be disclosing that.....

you should get some astros grro.
good for you now cause you can use them on both the 360 AND ps3 (and even pc if you so choose).
not sure what you currently have/use on ps3 but the astros are as good as it gets for gaming.

Been running pretty good on PS3 these last 2 days, for me anyway.

Running like it was the first few days, still get 1 or 2 games here and there that are substandard but nothing like the crap the last couple of weeks has been.

Now if only the knifing mechanic wasnt so broken and the Lebo's we encounter in Demo calm the **** down a bit, angry, angry people.
