I'll say one thing though. If the variance of opinion about who we should take is the same amongst the FD as it is amongst our posters, I reckon the decision will be a bloody tough one. I'm glad I'm not a recruiter!

I honestly do..we'll have the chance t pick him up, it's just a matter of whether or not we choose him.

I think the FD will know there order of preferance at 12. The hard part will be if a Mid that we rate higher than a tall (say Darling) slips and we pull the trigger on the mid its likely that we will have to really reach to go tall at 33.

I can seeing us in a similar situaton to what happened with Tapscott and Gysberts last year. To good to say no too.

I agree. But i get the feeling that GC will take him with picks 9-11. They can afford to take a punt on a tall and for mine the chances of Darling being a superstar are greater than those of a Tom Lynch etc.

I think the jury's still out on whether Darling is a "tall". At junior level, maybe, but in the AFL?

He's around the same size/build as Garland (and close to Gysberts, not to mention a certain Cameron Bruce). Maybe he'll grow a little, and bulk up a bit, but even then, we're only talking about a Dunn or Bate, or a filled-out Morton.

I just think there'll still be some quality mids/mediums around 12, and that's where we'll go.

You can't just look at a players height and pigeonhole them. You have to look at how they play the game. Darling is a big bodied forward that hits packs and provides a presence, he also applies excellent forward pressure which is a key part of our game plan.

And in anycase Darling is just a tick over 191cm (and potentially still growing), which makes him the same height as Fev and only just shy of Pav. They are much better comparisons than Morton, Gysberts or Bruce.

What's happened to Caddy? Most people have had him in the top 10 but there was nothing on him in the hearld sun and if the hearld sun are on the money chances are he won't be in the top 20.

Have they just forgotten about him or is he the slider?

Well his defensive efforts in the forward line are fantastic, he hits the packs hard and then he goes after his own crumb. We could definitely use one of him in our forward line.

If i was Bate i would be starting to get worried if Darling comes our way. He can kick just as good as Bate, he is more agile than Bate, he can take an overhead grab, plus he isn't a liability when the ball hits the deck. He is a similar height to Bate, yet he plays so much taller than him and i've never known Bate to hit the packs hard.

it's kinda funny because statistically he had a much better carnival then Sam Day.... he averaged 6 more possessions than Day and kicking 1 less goal as well as taking 1 less mark... also pretty similar hitout numbers

and Day get's AA... interesting

he will go high, certainly not lacking potential as many on BF are saying... tbh i doubt he will be around at our pick

Day is quite an interesting one in some ways, given that he is yet to really dominate a game, at least from what I've seen.

I know he has a huge amount of potential and upside, but even Jack Watts, the leanest kid out there, was ripping games apart as a junior. To me, that's the only worry with Day, but aside from that, he looks to be an absolutely elite prospect.

Interesting she seems to suggest Darling will be available for us - but we are looking at quite a few options.
