not if he see's you.

i liked the article.

im "The Mate"

really excited for him.
starts training today.

In the article it says " The mate" has been a member of the Dogs for 10 years, but your profile says you barrack for Adelaide - go figure.

This was posted by Weaver in a Callan Ward thread on the D+T board back in September, sounds pretty promising:

"He has developed from a sweeping HBF who played a lot of spare man in defence stuff ... into a genuinely exciting midfield prospect. He is taller, stronger and more confident than early in the season.

He is not a genuine centre/ruck-rover YET, but he will be. Clubs who want a genuine 186cm+, hard-at-it, ruck rover who can kick (i.e. everyone) will have him top of the list. For mine looks the most likely to become the Buckley, Ricciuto, Voss, Lewis TYPE.

Although he hasn't really played in the role yet, I'd have him above Grimes. Yep I'd have him top-10 with a bullet and can easily see him being a pick-8 bargain Selwood style. He might be the Dale Thomas bolter on draft day."

Sounds good, but I think Weaver's stocks took a pasting on draft day, particularly as he had us drafting Dave Gourdis with pick 5, & he didn't even get drafted.

i dont use this thing much,
if its worrying you that much ill change it.

i am 'the mate'

Is that why mjp is yet to show his face around here too??

Ummm. That's a bit harsh. Actually I have been in the Grampians...and on threat of divorce, I left my laptop at home.

I am shocked that Gourdis was not drafted. I dont know what else to say. I am pleased we got Grant - who I managed to get in both of the Phantom drafts - and super pleased with Ward (as everyone knows).

Can take or leave the others - usual sort of mix of mid-range picks I guess. Boumann has some qualities, I haven't really seen Reid. I am surprised at the Wood selection (along with everyone else) and will make only one comment. My key prerequisite for a draftee would be that footy is the most important thing in the world too them. A general belief that they love the game, love playing, and will do whatever that they can do too improve...I don't think that can be said about Wood, given he is only playing footy as cricket didn't work out for him.

Now I dont know him. But the fact that he gave cricket away after a setback does not put a smile on my face when I think about the future and having to slug it out in the Williamstown Reserves, deal with injuries, disappointments etc.

All that said, I really hope I am misguided and that he is everything that the recruiters dream he could be.

I am very happy with Callan Ward i think he will see senior action next year and looks the goods. He is a good size and looks like he has his head screwed on properly. Callan will be the best pickup for us from this draft imo :thumbsu:

I would have to disagree and say that Grant was our best pickup because we have been after a forward for ages and its what we so desperately need. However he has one flaw. His weight but that can easily be changed with a few hard sessions in the gym.

I am very much looking forward to seeing boumann in action next year. He seems he has got enough weight to jump straight in. And with his size he can do quite a bit of damage in the foward line i hope:D.

Half of me thinks Ward will turn out the better player and the second half wants Clayton to walk to Port Melbourne beach i think is what he said :D

He said he would swim from Port Melbourne to Williamstown... You were on the right track...

Ok, I'd like to point out that opinions expressed by this newbie poster should not be confused with those of the ORIGINAL Dogs_R_Us, who has been around for several years. Any chance you could change your nick, mate?

I always suspected Greg was Callan's dad. This was confirmed in Sunday's Age. I played footy with Greg at Yarraville and he was a tough as nails half-back flanker with rippling muscles so I expect Callan will be able to fill out if need be. And you wouldn't mess with Greg either but he was a welcoming bloke with a tough exterior. Our head trainer was a Mabel Ward, I presume Greg's mum, so footy really runs through the pedigree, especially with Bill Gunn on Callan's mum's side.

I'm not sure how you change, maybe send a message to the administrator. The mods could probably tell you.

Thanks for your understanding. :thumbsu:
