Calling out the weak SANFL development clubs

This, most of the drafted players don't set foot inside a college until Years 10-12. Giving substantial credit to Colleges for their development is delusional.

Thats your boarders as colleges dont like the kids much younger

Pretty sure Ballard and Mcpherson did their entire schooling at SHC and CBC

enough said.

Also need to add the TAC comp has a junior girls comp. started this year.

I think we know by development at eiither U16 or U18 the kids have chosen their sporting path

To suggest the TAC is a pathway is ridiculous its a patthway to the elite part of AFL, but so so many more are required for the sport at lower levels.

TBH schools primarirly priimary schools are where the participationa and development is required, then there is a requirement for clubs which include SANFL and Anmmo along with metro leagues and country leagues. And if youre honest you will see juniors lace up everything weekend for A and B Grade in these leaugues.

But your forgetting one thing these kids and 99% of those that play do it for, sport / enjoyment remeber it is a sport not an occupation for the masses

Its for the masses the elite level is for 1% of those that play footy

That 1% need to be serviced by the AFL but they arent doing in SA for various reasons or asking someone else to do it for them , and to say the SANFL is not letting is bloody stupid

There really is not more point in continuing this conversation then you have your views I have mine.
So I will leave the discussion with one more comment.
Participation in football is declining in SA. we can continue to do the same or change the way we do it. I am for Change.

If you and the SANFL are happy so be it. How do the country stats stack up.
Also and more importantly the Gender breakdown.

Not sure but woudl be hard to get data on and with the reducing country population, if female teams are starting in the country aswell you would think there is acytually an incraese in particpation, sounds like the State Government and SANFL are moving in the right direction on particpation into sport

Now getting back to if the AFL could be bothered with SA and starting there elite pathway programme to service their competition or they will leave it up to the SANFL and its army of voulnterrs or they employ a truck load of people to run a small comp, then being fair they should do it for the fenales aswell

Remember who effectively controls the AFL with the election of the AFL commision

You do understand the AFL have an agreement with the SANFL commission, not a great deal as it basically boils down to We run our SA you run the rest. So the AFL simply do not put much money into SA. There is a price for independence.
There was an AFL willingness to finance a junior competition. but it would not be controlled by the SANFL. It also put an age restriction on the SANFL League and reserves.
But that most likely old news. or news no one wants to hear.
