First round of the Ansett Cup is about as relevant as the Lilac Hill cricket match which is the first tuor mnatch played by a touring international side each year in WA.

It does not necessarily point to the future fortunes of the various teams.

I am yet to be convinced that Collingwood are going to blast everyone away ..though I hope its true. But a win against the spooners from the previous year tells us nothing.

Similarly essendon arent a weak team all of a sudden b/c of their loss to Port. Remember they lost to the Wet Toast at the beginning of 99 when they kicked only 3 goals but they still dominated the rest of the season.

If they get thrashed by Geelong this week (very unlikely) then some doubts may emerge.

Lets wait and see. As Blight says the season is a marathon, not a 100m sprint.

Norf are a champion team now they have Rocca. At least he doesnt have to get towelled by Mick Martin anymore.

That just leaves Silvagni, Dunkley, Wellman, Graham, Ingerson, Graham, and a few others who have his measure.

Norf is tough. That is definitely an oxymoron.

Its an old expression, a Bex is like a Dispirin, a headache powder.

Yes, they still make them.

And to the previous poster, it you think thats what a Bex is, you're ingesting it the wrong way.

Dunkley has not retired. Been in for his annual service - both feet and a shoulder or something. Said in an interview in the Syd papers this week that this may be his last year - he'll see how he goes.
