Hi Guys,

I am a Carlton supporter who has seen very little of Cameron Cloke.

My question is if you guys feel he is mobile and skilled enough to play CHB.I am guessing he has had some attitude problems but do you think there is ability behind the attitude?

Further if you dont think he can play CHB is he tall enough to be a suitable back up ruck?

Thanks Pumped.

1. He's shown no aptitude to play defence but he's young enough to learn. Malthouse likes to pigeon-hole players. Worth a try.

2. He has no attitude problems. He works hard and is a team player. Injury and ability are his main problems.

3. Yes he's most definitely a back-up ruckman, if he can overcome his shoulder problems. In fact ruck's probably his best position.

Good luck if CHB is on your wish list. He's not a true CHB and hasn't got the engine to chase the opposition CHF back and fourth, let alone for four quarters.

Timmy is pumping his tyres up for some reason other than knowledge. He doesn't train all that hard due to the fact he offers to joke around and do the easy things. In my opinion he's not a true ruckman, but although he offers to to be a pinch hitter, and CHFs his best position - he has a good pair of hands and knows where to move. Injury problems are a big issue, as Timmy pointed out.

I think he's a standard below AFL - definitely a VFL player at best and it shows in his transition between leagues.

I said "he's shown no aptitude to play defence"

I also said "injury and ability are his main problems".

Maybe I didnt word my post well, but all I really said was CHB may be worth a shot because he's still young. He has shown more in the ruck than he has at CHF - he has the same problems with pace at CHF than he'd have at CHB.

If thats "pumping his tyres up", I'll do a nudie run down Bourke St!!!

He won't have the same problems as he's prone to have at CHB because he knows where to move, as I pointed out. He has played his best football at CHF for Williamstown. He knows how to play there but mobility could be a problem at the highest level.

I'll believe it when I see it......and to think Kevin Bartlett was going to bare his bum down Bourke St

He would be a good back up ruckman and can fill a hole down forward .He can take a grab and can be a good assist in your forward line.He is too slow to play at centre half back i reckon, but timmy from thomstown could be right, malthouse does pidgeon hole players so if his pace picks up maybe Pagan can try him at chb and see what happens.I still can't believe the blues didn't pick up Jason Cloke. He would have walked staight into your backline and would play like a man possesed. He would have been perfect for what your backline needs, plus Whitnall would then be freed up to go forward and be very dangerous.

Does he? Why does the ball always seem to be sailing over his head when he plays at CHF?
Who was it getting all those clearances again? Over Cam’s head, at Taz’s ankles – you’d think it would be the other way around given their respective speed.

On Cam, as a few can attest, I was a real fan. I liked the way he went about it and we need a bit of his grunt. He’s hasn’t improved in 3 years though. Maybe shoulder injuries have hampered him but the bottom line is when he has been fit he hasn’t got enough of the ball. He’s young for a KPP so all is not lost if he can stay sound. He’s also young for a ruck but he’s a bit short to be a first choice ruckman.

His role would have to be as a CHF and a relief ruckman in the mould of Anthony Rocca. If Pagan can inspire some confidence and he can stay fit he might make it yet. I can't anything else being within his capabilities.

It has very little to do with delivery. Cam Cloke simply does not know where to position himself when the balls getting carried forward. He does ok at VFL level when the pace is a little slower, but at AFL level he zigs when he should zag.

cams biggest problem is he has a big head and thinks he is better than he actually is, he can play good footy at vfl level but when he has played at afl level he lookes a little lost to me..... he wont be at carlton long they will see him for what he really is!

he tries to mark the ball with his eyes closed, he is a girl in boys clothes
and jason is a better player. im afraid you grabbed the wrong cloke.

he may improve but as i said he plays like he is scared.
you'd have to play him in the forward line or ruck because you dont want to rely him to be accountable when he is so timid.

all alone and still looks scared (eyes could be closed can't tell, assume they are) plus note the marking style, pretty ordinary.

looking scared again, it's a worrying trend.

His best work has been as a backup ruck/Centre Half forward.

There is no way known he will ever make a CHB. Ever ever ever

Please let this be the last non Travis related Cloke thread I ever see on a Collingwood board!

Edited for accuracy...

I will be shocked if it happened. In other words he has no chance.

I'd like to see cameron cloke tried at full back, needs to trim up from the waste down and pick up a touch of speed.

Tall enough and heavy enough to keep a full forward honest.

Honest?

Which way did he go? Which way did he go? I tink I taw a puddy tat!

Freakin' hell. No hope in Hades!!! I'd kick 10 on him. The guys as slow and dumb(footy wise) as duck doo-doos. Have a re-think HH.;)

Thanks Guys,

Really appreciate all of your feedback. It is a pity that he doesn't seem suited to CHB. We could really do with one as we already have a few forward options. I too felt that Jason could have been a handy pick up.

Why would you visit the Carlton Board? Good grief, just go and rent an old, old comedy video and put your head in a vice. Leave them to wallow in their own uknowhat.

Will probably play more games at Preston this year, unless injuries ravage an already depleted Carlton side.

Average AFL player, good VFL player.... at best.
