Good luck to Big Bad Bustling Brent. Hope he guns, God knows we need it.
Yep killing them in the Willi seconds , where he guns against the other guns - and on the basis of that was promoted to the Willi ones where he has done ........... um.......... well he hasn't done anything actually.
That's a good reason to promote him to the AFL then

Who do you suggest we play in the ruck?

Hall is selected because he is the ONLY ONE AVAILABLE. Fraser wont be fit and will need a game at Williamstown either way because he's too valuable to risk. The only other option is Travis Cloke who will go into the game with a hip injury, but then who do you play at CHF???

Never said he deserved a game, but having gotten one by default, good luck to him. No harm in saying good luck is there?

He's only played the last eight games with Willy 1's but anyway.

Who do you suggest should ruck with Fanning then?

Brent Hall hasn't played in the Willi seconds for quite some time. I've seen him play a couple of times and whilst he isn't ready yet at least he'll have a crack, beggers can't be chosers.

Fanning's had every chance to prove whether or not he can make it. Jury's still out on that but its not due to lack of game time. Only one thing we know for sure. He's not big enough, good enough or strong enough AT THIS STAGE to ruck all day, therefore he needs some support, even if its a first gamer without a lot of form to his name.

Hall will get plenty of game time on Friday night against an equally inexperienced Essendon ruck division.

Personally I think Sheedy and Malhousde shoudl cut a deal whereby for example Egan goes up in the ruck against Lovett-Murray, and neither side selects a ruckman in its 22. But that aint gunna happen.

is Hall definitely playing? makes sense to me to pick him, as hotpie has said, Fanning needs support, and we havent really got a lot of it at moment in the ruck, plus we need to have a look at Hall in the seniors before the season is out, he will most likely come up in delisting talks, although i think we will retain him

i havent heard any news on Hall, good luck to him if he plays

How can you consider Brent Hall a chance this week? Hall could play, but he definitely is not even up to AFL standard yet. But on the other hand the season is now gone, so I'd give Hall a chance and see how he goes.

Fanning to ruck throughout....Essendon have zero in the ruck department...Bradley and Cartledge? haha.

Better than promoting someone who has shown absolutely nothing, in my opinion, That said, I hope he takes his chance because he is fortunate to get one at this stage.

I am a Collingwood supporter, and a member. I know that we need him in the ruck at the moment, but apart from that i am not a big fan of his. I see him give up too many times when he should be chasing and giving a better second effort.

More false reporting by the media, for once Balmey is telling the truth but we will know more next week

No surprise to see one of our better improvers this year being bagged by some

Hall will probably do a better job than the other options, Fanning or Walker

Fanning doesnt have the tank to ruck all day. Not even against Essendon. With the pathetic opposition there's no better time to promote Hall. It will be just like a VFL game.

The chances of him not playing again this season are extremely high.

We rested C2 and Richards at this stage last season.

Nor the rucking ability. Seriously he has been thrashed mercilessly in every single game he's played. In any other club I doubt he have got close to game. It's pathetic that he has to play and an indictment on Malthouse who has not addressed a very obvious deficiency that has existed since Monkey bit the dust, cost us a flag and has further pressured a vulnerable midfield. I honestly think Collingwood's ruck situation is enough to cost a coach a job it has been that incompetently handled.

I hope Fanning develops but right now he is as bad as any ruckman I have seen in a Collingwood jumper. That I have said that about others is what most scares me. It just keeps getting worse.

For the Cloke baggers, watch the wins we’ve had. Take a look at who rucks when we kick goals and who rucks when the opposition get a run on. Cameron Cloke is a bit short to ruck and by historical standards too young to do it consistently well but this year he has made Fanning and Fraser look like school girls.

Did ok agaist Dean Cox.

I think he's got potential for about 2007. It must be remembered he started the year on the rookie list and he's know been forced to play two levels above his current standard.

He's simply too lightly framed and too inexperienced at the moment. But he's still a more than 50% chance to make the grade in the long run.

Watching 22 footballers run out each week wearing navy blue jumpers does make make one an expect on 'duds'.
I'm assuming you mean 'expert' not 'expect'. But seriously mate, even the most one eyed Collingwood supporter would admit he aint that flash.

Hotpie, I'm not saying he is a lost cause (although I don’t have much confidence) just that him playing means we are at present. There aren't a whole lot of options which is entirely the problem. We relied on an unproven injury prone rake, a 5 year player with no more than a handful of winning ruck games to his credit, a slowish CHF that's a bit short to ruck and a rookie MM himself has said he didn't think was even close at the start of the year.

How the hell did MM think this was going to work?
