I recently moved from the inner city to Kew - do I also now have a suburb left foot?

As an extension, do I have two suburban feet, which could colloquially be translated as pedestrian. I have pedestrian feet - well yes, I suppose I do.

Am I a twat? Sure. But it makes about as much sense as getting carried away with people supposedly getting carried away with Cam Howat, who from what I see is worth getting a little carried away with, but no-one was really getting carried away with him to begin with.

Carry me away, my suburban feet are killing me.

There's a point about the thread tucked away in there somewhere, but please feel free to go me hard for trying to put a little humour in there.

I love the talk on bigfooty, where everyone refuses to take the pre season seriously - if the team or players are travelling badly then 90% of contributors are saying, "wait till the real stuff starts", or if we're doing well and players are looking good then PLSC and Bentleigh are saying, "wait till the real stuff starts".

Please forgive me if my own pre-season contribution is more Sydney than Carlton, but when the real stuff starts I'll try to concentrate on nothing but the facts, ma'am.

Barely humour. It would've been humour if you put a link to the Descendent's song Suburban Home but you just came off as another who picks at others post for a mistake and elaborates on only that.

Anyway Bentleigh is so under-carried-away with Howat it makes all others who actually think he's a decent talent and could easily play all 22 games look like they're calling him the next messiah in Beno's eyes.

Sorry, I'll be serious from now on.

I don't think anyone was getting carried away with Cam Howat, but personally I think he'll be pretty good for a long time.

Deja Vu?

I like Howat because he's prepared to run ... alot of others aren't.

Based on where our midfield is at, that's enough for me, he's a dead certainty to be picked each week.

Yeah, first or second year players are considered young.

Just as Howat is, because he is a second year player.

It just takes others longer to be realised as talent than it does players who make it into the Under 18 AA side.

At least we didn't have to go through the "is he bulking up", "is he going to make it", "this guy is as good as Judd" stuff.

He is a ready made player, boom bam, and no other team got him, thats the best thing, this guy was available for years but we got him first.

Hw should be 6th year. He is 2nd year because he was too rubbish to make it as a kid.

We don't have to worry about him ever putting on any muscle or ever being much good? Lucky us indeed.

Yes Knights was a champion but its still a weakness none-the-less. I cant remember much from last years game but Howat seemed to wheel a bit in the Geelong NAB game. If that's his major weakness, a right-foot, that isnt so good then that's not so bad but its still a weakness, he makes it up but having a suburb left foot, bit of a trade off really. :thumbsu:

if your've only got one foot you need it to be solid; A Rocca, Dew, Howat etc.

How do you know he wasn't good enough as a kid???

Just because he wasn't picked up doesn't mean he was trying too, he could have just had footy as an after thought, he might never have thought to persue it as a carrer, he was playing for Box Hill it wasn't as if he was with Vic sides or draft camps or anything.

:o
Wouldn't be too sure about that.

Tambling kicks goals and has potential.

Howat struggled to get 5 touches yesterday..

Tambling's had potential for years. And yes it is bloody good but he hasnt converted it apart from brief flashes.

Give a challenge, put him back to Coburg and make him earn his way back into the team like McGuane has had to. Maybe it'll have him step up as he's been shown he's not a protected species and has to perform to keep his spot.

Howat was cold yesterday but that's just one game, you're jumping on his back too early like a few people were on 'Lids last week.

I've liked what I've seen so far. I'm not sure what drugs you guys are on.

He hasn't been good. I'm not saying he should be dropped or anything, the reality is I think we had high expectations for Howat and his less than glittering performances are a little disappointing. Perhaps we pumped him up to be a little better than he actually is? (That would be a first:o ). I don't know.

He has been good. What made you think he was another Chris Judd? He's only played about 6 games and he averages maybe 15-20 possesions. Good skills and kicked a great goal last week. Not sure where all the negative comments are coming from. We should be excited about him. Most of the negative comments are coming from people like Bentleigh who hasn't even been to the mcg in his life. He's judging players by their stats in the paper lol

Not so much another Judd...just a smokey who looked to be a real monty but to be honest I'm not really sure about where my perception of him came from. Bigfooty over-hype scores again:o

Was decent against Carlton but had a bit of an off day yesterday.

Tambling would be dropped before Howat.
Tambling needs to get more of the ball, but he kicked two goals and set up 1 or 2 others against the Swans. I'd take 8 of Tamblings possessions against 15 of Paddy Bowdens anyday. To say he should be dropped before Howat is ludicrous.

What I have liked about Howat is that he usually looks composed, but he looked anything but against the Swans. Made some poor choices, but the kid still has less than 10 games under his belt.

No way!

8 touches of which quite a few were turnovers.

No point screaming delist now though because it's only round 3. Let's send him back to Coburg, see if he can lift himself.
