Yep they will sell the farm. They have too. They are not going anywhere with Tabanar as the sole key forward (assuming
Pav retires).

I can't see how they get Bennell if they are trading both their first rounders for McCarthy.
Not sure passing on bennel is such a bad thing. Rumours are he was at the peel oval fight

I think he's perfect for richmond

McCarthy would be perfect for freo. They just have to make GWS an offer they cant refuse. This years and next years first rounders and a good player would be a starting point

Alex Silvagni, Alex Pearce are the type they'd need

We won't give up 2 first rounders plus Pearce. Silvagni I would easily though. Solid defender who is great when he can string a few games together.

Unless it is a terrific offer, GWS should stick to their guns. Just because McCarthy and his manager screwed up and took a contract extension and then his value boomed and now he is getting bigger offers is no reason GWS should cave in and let him go. If McCarthy hadn't have come on, how would he and his manager have reacted if GWS came along now and said actually your contract is too generous so we want to cut it.

I wish Adelaide had stuck to their guns and kept Gunston. Some other teams might have had a premiership in the last 8 years. We are clearly a threat to your 4-peat and McCarthy strengthens us immensely. We tried to our bid you for Frawley but money couldn't convince him. I envy your ability to get the deal done when trading. But don't begrudge us trying to fill a void.

Gunston wasn't contracted. Adelaide had no way to keep him at all, best they could have done was send him to the draft.

I don't begrudge you at all. Actually was disappointed that Pavlich didn't get a premiership along the way and would have supported Freo ahead of WC. But wasn't Gunston out of contract which is a lot different to McCarthy's situation.

They folded for a very late first rounder and some pick upgrades. Compare that to the rumored 2 first rounders and a player.
Yes, because McCarthy is contracted for two more years. If he wasn't GWS would probably face getting something similar to Gunston.

Worth more: (given circumstances in some cases)

Fyfe
Neale
Sandilands (too old)
Mundy (too old)
Hill

Same:
Walters

Pav is retiring and old, a lot of your other blokes are too old or not yet proven.

I can't see you satisfying us with players. What Lyon has achieved with your list is incredible.

Sorry but I don't think they'll give you Walters
Ross the Boss said he's captain material

If they don't really want picks couldn't another club get involved with our 2 first rounders getting on traded by GWS for players they need?

And he'd have more currency than Mcarthy
As a straight swap he does absolutely

But if you want our bloke you have to pay.

Apparently they have offered 2 first round picks...that is a better starting point. If they can upgrade one of those picks I think it starts looking like doable deal as currently they are pretty late

Does Freo look likely to trade out anybody elsewhere which they could potentially use to upgrade their 2015 or 2016 1st rounder?

The only one I could think of is Weller.

Perhaps they trade Weller for a top 10 pick (plausible) then offer that and their 1st rounder of 2016.

I think that is at least a reasonable compensation.

So I'm seeing 3 over and 1 the same. Any on the unders list which you would still value on your list?

It will probably end up being some really complicated 3 way club trade I reckon.
