and how many clubs have sent players to the draft in the history of the AFL ?
i always hear this threat of sending a player to the draft but if hes out of contract and states he wants to come home, then its down to 2 clubs i reckon

Nick Stevens and Jade Rawlings spring to mind but it doesn't happen often. It's also rare that the best young player in the competition requests a trade though, Des Headland was pick 1 and requested a trade 4 years later and cost us picks 3, 19 and McPhee (who was very highly regarded in 2002).

Finally we say something! That's about as open as you're going to get from Steve R too.

I'll admit I have a bit of an investment in GWS, but the way they're treating McCarthy is just so sad. I've said it before that even if he was wanting a trade to WCE I'd feel the same way about his treatment (but perhaps not so strongly). I'm surprised the AFL or AFLPA haven't stepped in here yet. Though I guess with the amount of articles appearing on the AFL website about it they're kinda helping. If the AFLPA do step in though, Pav will have to make sure he distances himself from it all because of an obviously strong conflict of interest.

May as well chuck Jesus, Ablett Snr & Plugger in there while you're at it.

Would look great but there is more chance of me sleeping with Miranda Kerr than the Dockers playing with that forward line.

Happy to be wrong on both counts...
A friend of a friends brother knows Miranda Kerr and for the good of team she is thinking about. I have been told we may need to throw in a debutant poster as well.

Yep i can answer this

Western sydney is massive and it just depends how you look at it. WS has 5 million people to put it into context.

It is divided in the way of income groups and ethnicity. A lot of the ethnic groups whether it be Lebanese or vietnamese or greek tend to group and live in the same suburbs, which when you look at places like bankstown causes some issues.

Also when you head out blacktown way there is a lot of public housing and lower income areas which can add to problems out there.

Then you have homebush (which contrary to many peoples beliefs is actually western sydney) this is where the Olympic precinct is and is right next to posher suburbs such as ryde and north ryde.

I live in the south west in an area called Camden. Its very Australian out my way, still lots of rural farms and countryside,.and my wife gets to the airport in sydney in 35mins early in the morning. I love the area i live in and wouldnt live anywhere else. Great community lifestyle.

Expensive areas of Sydney

Cronulla - overpiced and snobby
Many and northern beaches areas - overpriced and snobby
Closer to sydney - 1million for a run down weatberboard piece of shit in an concrete jungle.

Me in camden - well priced, beautiful scenery and all the emenities i need.

So it depends on how you look at it and where you live, but i love living in western sydney

Unless there was a sudden increase in population or everyone lives in WS, Sydney itself only has just under 5 million people as of mid last year.

Footy players today reflect Gen Y'ers attitudes to life. They want it now and they want it all.

(I pass no comment on that, cos that is for a whole other thread).
Well I will. Don't blame the Gen Y's, they're just doing what the system set up by Thatcher, Reagan and Keating-ish told them to do. Be an individual, get the best deal for yourself, community and society are a myth.

Wellers worth would be between 9-15 imo. Don't know any club who will give that up though.
I think Weller would go around pick 8 in this draft. So I would want at least a top 10 pick and confirmation GWS would take that and change for McCarthy.

Not disagreeing with you guys, but surely McCarthy after kicking 35 goals with 2 years on his contract is worth a bit more than Weller who has only played 3 games and is out of contract next season? Where you've both rated Weller seems about right but illustrates that people suggesting pick 22 + next years first rounder is way under market value for McCarthy. I hope the Fremantle Football Club actually has a reasonable deal up its sleeve, seems strange to lure a contracted player home and with a couple of days left in trade week not have a genuine offer on the table.

I think you guys should fold and agree to trade Barlow. He wasn't that good this year and Bennell can replace him?
I'm thinking I could get this thread to 180 pages, just by posting an inappropriate (but extremely apropos) response to you, and everyone else who has suggested this.
Go. Away.

I think you misunderstood the society quote.

The point of that quote is that "society" is made up of individual people and their families, so by expecting "society" to "do something", you're actually taking money away from those people. There's no magical society bank account.

I'll buy anyone who invents a time machine and brings mid-2000s Pavlich to 2015 a beer.

Can we use that same time machine to draft teenage Graham Polak and Ryan Murphy again? Polak was runner up in the rising star and Murphy kicked 60-odd WAFL goals as a teenager, I think they'd flourish under Ross Lyon after floundering under the previous Admin.
