I got this from a friend of mine who is in the know. I'm not going to say anymore because I don't want to get him in trouble.
Is this the same friend who recently advised you that Moller was always going to be delisted and Pav as more than likely to go on? Sorry for being sceptical about your friend's information, but I could have given you those two pieces of information yesterday if you had asked. And I have nothing to do with the club or persons within it.

I was sure to do my due diligence before I bought. Something that GWS would be wise to do in the future.

Unlikely as stated before, however he could create a very interesting precedent about being denied natural justice and the stress having induced mental health issues which preclude him from training and necessitate him returning home to the nurturing support of his family.

GWS would be very, very cautious about calling bullshit on this publicly.
Great points - also there's their respective bargaining positions at the time the extension was struck to consider - GWS has a massive advantage as the line between an AFL youngster in their first year and an indentured servant is starting to look a bit thin IMO.

Was there really full disclosure going on during this negotiation about future prospects and Cam's best interests? Only Cam, his manager or GWS could tell you, ...but being a massive cynic I'm willing to speculate there might have been a few key omissions made here and there along the way.

Weller on the wing replacing D Pearce, our young key players also hitting that 22-24 bracket
C'mon Arcassius, we have done this already. D Pearce will still be best 22 next year. Just let it go - we have all heard the rhetoric and yes he coughs it up like everyone else, but actually not as often as you think. He also hits targets more than most of his detractors would like to believe - mainly because he goes for direct bullets which others are not willing to do, and also he has a longer kick (and a lefty - which helps with switches), so longer kicks have a lower percentage of coming off.

Weller coughed it up a few times with short passes at AFL level (I recall), but he is young so we will hope he improves to at least a D Pearce level. While I jest and I am having a bit of fun at this, the fact remains that D Pearce is an experienced player with pace, a lefty and he is a hard working player with a good engine. He also sets up lots of goals if you can ignore the tremendous brain explosions he has probably once a game in most cases. Happy to be proven wrong if anyone wants to point out specific games in the 23 rounds (and I would hope it would be more than 5 games with 3 serious clangers to bother posting it).

It would be great if Weller can get a regular game, I am all for that - I like Langdon and want to see B

Anyway respect your posts Arcassius, just an opportune time to express my sentiments and interpretations of earlier posts in this thread among others.

Maybe we can get a better off by fiddling with the future picks... Maybe give someone like ?????? who want picks or value picks next year our 2nd and 3rd next year for their 2nd pick this year in the 20's and give 22 and that pick plus 1st next year... TOTALY Overs.... but there you go...

I still think 22 and next year's 1st is very good for GWS:confused:...

I think the rule is that only future 1st rounder OR future subsequent rounders can be traded. If you trade future 1st round pick, you cannot trade any other future picks. You can trade as many future non-1st round picks as you want provided you keep the future 1st round pick.

I sit to be corrected though.

I don't mind. My friend was certain that Pav was going to play next year. It is pretty healthy to be skeptical especially on a forum like this.

As above - do you 'sell the future' and lose a potential future gun in trade for a crack next year, or do you take next year as a development hit and have both players the year after for the future?
Potential future gun? Draft picks outside top 10 are statistically longshots. And trading in a player who is still very young, and especially young for a KPP, is hardly selling the future.

Where I am coming from is our team mix in 2017.

D Pearce would be 31 going into the 2017 season, so it's conceivable that a younger player would start getting played in his winger role. Weller is the most obvious replacement, assuming he develops in line with expectations.

I'm not one of the Pearce bashers who don't see his value to the team and demand he be dropped :p He has his place in the 22 currently - in 2 years that may differ

'Sell the future' was originally Purple's term in the post I quoted :p

All draft picks have a statistical chance of failure. All things being equal, trading 2 first round picks plus a first round picked player (Weller), for a first round picked player (McCarthy) - is stacking the game against us 3:1. There's no guarantee that McCarthy (at pick 14) is any more likely to make it than Weller (pick 13), neither do we know the potential players we are giving up in losing those two first round picks.

What I suggested is that waiting a year to get his market value down is more prudent.

I think Freo might offer up Barlow to get this trade done.
I might just return my membership pack then. He shouldn't be put up. Ever.

He bleeds purple. Through that XS jumper of his.

We don't want to offer up a top clubman and end up like Brisbane when they offered up Bradshaw and..... Someone who ended up going to the GC.

Yeah I agree, but he won't be playing in the middle.

Ahh you are right.. I actually read/searched it before I posted.. Since you can trade the 2nd and 3rd future picks... I was thinking a way to better a pick this year... Then I thought , problem solved... so didn't think it through as it was different trades and not the same trade.. ... :drunk::drunk:

Or maybe, just maybe we can still package up picks from next year to better picks this year if they want.......??

Maybe GWS want picks next year.. so pick 22 and 53 this year for someones(bottom of ladder) 2nd round next year.. trade that pick with our first pick next year.. So we are trading OUR first round next year with someone else's second round.. is that allowed.. ??

......OR.. maybe trade this year's pick 22 and 53 for an upgrade plus next yrs 1st ?

....OR... f it...........I guess I'm grasping at straws now...o_O

Oh I don't like that deal and wouldn't take it. But have no problem at all with a combination of pick 22 + future 1st round or a player with decent potential. I would be disappointed if the club has not had a chat with a few young players to confirm that they see their future at the Dockers, because if they don't, this is the opportunity to make the move.

Yeah that's true, and it would be nice to think the club does exactly that in their annual player reviews. 'Where do you see yourself'

Incidentally (on a related topic) - do we have a thread for the buddy reviews yet?

I think for whatever reason we are actually serious about trading for Sunshine now.

Today is the first day that there is a Freo website story about our interest. Everything else has come from Young or Young leaking stuff.

Who knows what that means though and whether it means anything will get done.
