I will say I find many of the deletions baffling or petty.From my reading it appeared there was a request for consistency in moderation which would seem a desirable standard;however as Clems Knee has pointed out the Ballantyne clause appears to expressly dismiss the notion!

I'm glad I'm not a mod. I'm assuming being a mod would mean not being allowed to put people on ignore... And that would make my stay on BF a much less enjoyable one. I don't understand why any real fan would want to hang out with other fans for the sole purpose of bagging out their own team.

As for opposition supporters... One giant meh. We might not have a flag yet, but there's no denying that our club has been among the stronger in recent years and is doing a lot of things right to ensure we'll be thereabouts.

As for Cam, for someone who is allegedly trying to be happy where he is for the sake of seeing out his contract, he's certainly doing enough publicly to thumb his nose at GWS. I think that's why it was a mistake for GWS to hold on to him. I would certainly be pissed if one of our guys in similar circumstances acted in the same manner. The only thing missing in that photo is Cam flipping the finger.

I'm not one to really kick up a fuss. The deletions going on at the moment are either a panicked face saving exercise involving a crucifixion of the usual fall guy or a series of bizarre over reactions. Strange goings on considering the forum last season and the free for alls with the trolls.

Glad you missed the trollfests. There was a marked degeneration in the forum last season. It was painful. Even righteo agreed it was not a pleasant place to be.

I respect the mods on this site, and Allikat has shown herself to be an honest and fair poster before she ever became a mod. So I think we should give her the benefit of the doubt over whether she is involved in a personal crusade.

Sometimes mods, and judges generally, try to appear even handed, but this sometimes results in one party being painted unfairly as something they are not. Hence the "trolling on both sides" comment. Which was a mistake.
How a bit more honesty like - "this thread has gone way off track and I cbf sorting through the mess, so I've deleted whole pages."

I do have a view that if a person with trolling history is on board and not actually trolling, they should not necessarily be banned ( I am opposed to the Ballantyne rule for all posters, not just Bushie), unless they are currently badmouthing us on another board. Surely that's easy to see? A quick search on posting history should show up posters like DeFacto, the Commissioner, etc.

This. And it couldn't have happened to a nicer handful of supporters (not all of them, but General Giant takes the cake) btw it appears I was wrong regarding General Giant's identity. I thought he was the same poster as GG aka Gigantor who has the same infuriating repetitive, ignore all evidence style of posting.

When someone calls Bushie a troll, posts that no-one wants Bushie, then refuses to respond to requests for an explanation, following which repeated requests he finds himself banned, it's reasonable to infer that that person is involved in a personal crusade.

Exactly. That's why Bushie's presence on this board is indispensable - especially when you consider what this forum was like last year when Bushie wasn't around.

I share your view. But since a large part of Defacto's and Mr Commissioner's raison d'etre is to write or like any post that pours shit on our club, the application of that principle is unlikely ever to yield a different result.

The odd thing about the Ballantyne rule, I thought It'll be used to deal swiftly with the obvious opposition trolls. Oddly, they seem to be given quite a lot of runway before any action is taken.

I don't care for those opposition posters trying to troll us. It's ok for us to put them on ignore in the MB or bay, but we should not have to "take it" on our own board. I don't care if people talk smack about me outside, but if they come into my house and talk rubbish about me in front of my family, I see it fit to tell them to go away.
