But I agree with Leather Poisoning that one was Zuthrie's needless stupidity. The rage - unfair or otherwise - is that it became a two part play based on Rayner turning the game on its head with incident one. Any supporter base in the league would boo the umpires during, and Rayner afterwards (although I'm not a boo boy myself...it's cringe). Let's not pretend that's a Geelong specific issue.

You could ask that question of 100 contests every game. Before the ball up in most games there are spotfires all over the field with players pushing each other

Problem is I can provide plenty of examples of pushes from behind or blocking players who aren’t looking where frees are paid.

You can argue whether something is a free or not but what he did is a free greater than 0% of the time. The easiest solution is to not push players from behind.

As for in-game reaction to the umpires getting sucked in or Rayner's trolling? Find me one crowd in Australian or world sport who would differ.

I suppose only Geelong supporters are expected to be happy clappers in such a situation. A West Coast crowd in a final would have invoked civil war.
