But that’s not correct at all. It doesn’t have to be a reportable offense for an umpire to pay a free kick.

Usually that kind of dive only happens in soccer, but even then referees don't pay it (they would never pay a penalty for that and gift a side a certain goal).

But it was clearly a dive from Cam, Connor barely touched him and he falls forward like he'd been pushed by a truck.

Often in soccer defenders will check their opponent from a corner, but they rarely dive like Rayner. Rayner should be suspended and that will stop him from doing it again.

Bad form from fthe umpire for paying the free kick even though he couldn't see the action. Only paid it because Rayner was in the umpires face seconds before, Rayner should get a "please explain" from the AFL for intimidating an umpire.

The bit missing was Mark O'Connor put his hand up and cried to the Umpire when a free was awarded against Rayner in the earlier quarter. It was for a midriff tap, no one went down or got injured etc - he literally put his hand up towards Umpire and got a free for that. Rayner just went "you know what, I'll do one better on you" and did exactly that.

It gets swept under the carpet as big bad Rayner is a better clickbait compared to a no namer seeking a free via the same umpiring channel. Will sell papers this week no doubt. I saw Kingy's on his blower already, will be good drama in the lead up to the semi final.

I saw some brisbane fans at the ground with all the booing and when rayner gave that free away for high contact… they were honestly almost in tears.

He absolutely got his ass kicked by MOC and had 11 touches and 1 goal.

Trust me, they are fuming at the embarrassment later added to that belting with it all

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing all that stuff cracked down on- the bumping and niggly nudging by O'Connor and the little gut punches and toe stamps from Rayner. It's a bad look.

But you have to start paying them all, right from the beginning of the game. You can't just pick out one half way through the match, just because someone's had a sook to the ump and the other team is motoring ahead.

Rayner was just cracking the shits because normally if he cops a midfield tag he can drift forward, and if he cops a hard-checking back pocket he can switch to the midfield. O'Connor is good enough all over the ground to nullify him anywhere. Isaac Heeney

Don’t mind a crackdown. Did you see how obsessively Jeremy Cameron got this the last month of the HA season?? Literally lachie jones bumped him about 500 times during the game and I am not sure that’s too much of an exaggeration.

Cameron honestly wasnt fussed and just went about his business. He didn’t sulk like rayner.

But if teams want to stamp it out I’m not opposed, but in general some players are professional and handle it much better than others do

clearly you dont know the rules, an accumulation of off the ball incidents can merit a free kick, the umpire had warned him and then he did it again! then fake tough guy Guthrie wanted to come in so was another 1
