He won’t get a vote. In fact I’d imagine all 6 go to Freo players.

But he played well. And noticeably so.
Yeah he would have been probably around our 3rd to 5th best player on the ground imo. But the best 3 on ground were probably Jackson, Young and Serong. Berry might squeeze a vote being best from the winning team though

didnt think he was in brisbanes best 5 personally

i would have had berry, mccarthy, zorko, daniher and mccluggage ahead of him

not going to include freo players who played better than him either

was a better game from rayner but he should be working to make that his floor really

Berry will get 1 or 2 I'm sure, was very good.

He played ok and I have to admit there would be 3 or 4 Brisbane players I notice more than him.

If I keep it on topic, I dont think anyone would be really be happy getting a Rayner from pick 1 but who knows what injuries have done there. He's definitely a good AFL player (better than Spargo who is a roleplayer at best haha) that would be best 22 in every team in the AFL just not a pick 1, no less than a Whitfield though and there are plenty worse number 1's in the history of the draft.

when you've got the time, rank Rayners draft. I've got him about 25 in his draft. Spargo is no doubt a role player but that's all Rayner is too. 14 touches and not even a goal a game is drop worthy. Unless of course he is a pressure forward. Which he isn't.

I can’t name a Freo player on current form who is playing better footy than cam rayner.

Maybe the guy that does backflips during games, but only when he does the backflips as they are entertaining.

The sea shanty men go alright as well.

what do you think Rayner is worth now? An early 2nd? Maybe, a late first in a compromised draft? Give it 1-2 more seasons and it'll be a late 2nd.

If you look at recent trade periods, the closest ones would be:

Coleman-Jones for about pick 24 value.

Jordan Clark for about pick 22 value.

Jordan Dawson about pick 16 value.

Ben Long about pick 36 value.

Tanner Bruhn pick 21

Brayden Preuss pick 37

Adam Saad about pick 11 value.

Jack Higgins about pick 19 value.

Orazio Fantasia about pick 29 value.

Jye Caldwell about pick 20 value.

Dawson was a bargain, but if you look at the rest of those I think Rayner right now should be commanding a late first round pick on current form. This value would skyrocket with a big finals series though...

I mean, that's ridiculous hyperbole I suppose but you'll get a reaction so kudos.

Assuming this is a reaction to my post, you think teams would be happy getting what Rayner has showed for pick 1?

Rayner can do things above "roleplayer" status, he can and does impact games consistently. Spargo is a handy player you can find very easily anywhere. I dont think ranking players from the draft is relevant

I respectfully disagree. Rayner is the very definition of inconsistent. He literally hasn't played a good game since the Collingwood game in like round 5 or whenever it was. he's kicked 2 goals in the last 7 weeks.

He's inconsistent at being at his best, not at impacting games, I'd have them as slightly different things. Does being inconsistent after serious injuries and still being 23 relegate you to roleplayer status

Would be a top 3 player at Freo imo. Maybe serong or cerra could beat him on their day.

He's been Very good for 1 game this year. Good for 1 game, Average for 8 games and Deplorable for 10 games. That's just being consistently inconsistent. Or consistently poor.

When was his injury? He had a full season this year, a full season last year and in 3 months he'll be 24. The time is running out. At some point in his career I'm sure he'll have a good season but that doesn't make up for the first 5 years of nothingness.

An ACL is an ACL, who knows how that impacts but Elixuh was being a dick so I agree with you. Should have done more by now, I wouldnt take him for free

You mean except aganst Essendon, when Rayner was 2nd highest rated player on the ground with a 20.3 rating, Rayner's highest rated game of the season? 20 disposals, 14 contested possessions, 5 clearances from only 33% centre bounce attendances. 2 contested marks. 1 goal + 1 goal assist. 8 score involvements.

No doubt Rayner has had a quiet season, but he keeps getting selected, which tends to suggest he is doing what Brisbane expect of him. They are clear in the top 4 teams, and they have decent alternative players on their list.

There are things we can't know, but while they are picking him and winning, I am sticking with Rayner, and half expecting to see a decent finals series from him.

lol. you had to go all the way back in round 9 to find a good game. I actually included that as a good game in my break down of his games. Very good for 1 game this year (Coll). Good for 1 game (Ess), Average for 8 games and Deplorable for 10 games.

What is it that he does? Does he kick goals? No. Not even a goal a game. Does he apply defensive pressure? No. So what does he do? 14 possessions and 0.8 goals a game. If he produces big in finals and kicks a bag of 6 or something in any final then I will eat some of my words. But considering you had Rayner before Fritsch, goals clearly mean nothing to you :)

Fritsch joe the goose goals don't mean much to anyone bar you Dan. ;)

Question is irrelevant as he is signed long term, doesn't want to go and we don't want to trade him.

There will come a time though when this is questioned. What happens when Will Ashcroft demands 1 million a season and Mcgluggage similar.

Will be back in Melbourne inside three years.
