Tim Kelly got a week for muuuuch less…like 2 rounds ago….so it’s gotta be at least 2 weeks, he planted the bloke on his face.

So much for our finals X factor lololol.
I thought he was one of our better players tonight. I understand the sentiment though, if this is more of a general dig at the Lions and our chances in the finals.

Just me venting. The AFL will throw the book at him about protecting the head and rub him out for 2. Cripps meanwhile can bump the head because his lawyers are smarties.

Nothing wrong with that tackle.

He didn't lift or sling.

It's just a good hard tackle and sometimes people get hurt.

Rayner pinned both arms of Brown, turned him 360° and drove him into the ground with Brown's face falling directly into the turf resulting in him needing to leave the ground with the blood rule.

Once you pin both arms you have a duty of care to protect the opposing players head.

Rayner is supposedly a big game player

He must have missed the memo about last night's game

Bears supporters, Fritsch?

Rayner's performance was the least of our issues last night; I thought he played OK.

I don't think it's particularly controversial saying Fritsch has been the better player in their careers so far. That ducking knob Spargo however...

Arms pinned
Lifted
Swung
Driven head first in to the ground

It will be 1 week for sure as Brown left the ground for 20 min.

Should argue whatever Carlton did with Cripps. Got off while Ah Chee apparently still has concussion symptoms two weeks later.

2 wrongs dont make a right. If Rayner was a chance for the Brownlow he may get lucky.

Plus, its easier to defend a player going for the ball than a dangerous tackle. The AFL is also okay with elbows being thrown by the player with the ball. But that doesnt make it right.

It just makes the AFL completely incompetent and not fit to run a competition.

I agree that according to the rules he will probably be get suspended.

I do also think there's been a few instances this year where sling tackles haven't resulted in the player being suspended. Brown coming off with a blood nose doesn't help his case though (does help he came back on).

The damage determines the penalty. The action determines the guilt.

I assume it will be classed as medium impact which is 1 week. They wont get high/2 weeks because Brown kicked 2 more goals.

Brown is a pussy. Grundy did the same thing to him while at North.

Big clumsy goof. Costs players games.

I hope Raynor gets off. If Lions don’t fight for him, he should demand a trade to Collingwood.

Tad harsh. He had both arms pinned by a very strong player who rotating him into the turf. Pretty much at the mercy of the impact, which was medium, but not really his fault. Granted he is a bit of a giraffe.

The sooner the tackler stops rotating and pile driving the better. It's a new tackling techniques that needs to be outlawed. Even in the good old days of legal biffo you rarely saw that sort of tackle.

This thread was derailed long ago by the desire for self congratulation of a Melbourne supporter. But nothing should hide how underwhelming Rayner has been. His game was a Rayner standard one. Limited influence with the rare flashes of quality. For a number 1 pick, which is unfortunately how he will always be measured, he was and is simply ordinary.

Yes, its browns fault a player tacked him face first into the ground.

The stupid is strong in this one.

The 'stupid' is he who replied to such a serious post.

I like most of your posts and opinions Vinnie, I respectfully disagree with you here, you can make a legit case that Rayner should not be suspended on technical perspective, but to insult Ben Brown and accuse of him of being weak/cowardly is absolute nonsense.

He was forced to leave the field with a bloody face and lucky not to be concussed in fact.
