Sometimes I don't know if it's laziness or adrenaline but in the first quarter after a trailblazing sprint up the wing he needlessly kicked it to a Dees defender when the Lions had a couple of open forward options.

If he can start to reduce those kind of infuriating blunders/turnovers, he would be a star

Fair bit to play out. Rubber is hitting the road for Cam. I reckon he could really hit his straps and end up a top 5 from his draft year which is a good result from any pick (pick 1 doesn't have a great history) but if he plateaus might struggle to be top 10 which would be disappointing.

As ever no kid ever demands being pick 1, and the lions got him, Starcevich and Bailey from that draft. That's a tremendous trioi so there are no red faces from the lions from 2017

Could be utilized a lot better elsewhere. Somewhere which has a spot for him as a 3rd target down forward or a mid/fwd mix. Brisbanes got Bailey and Cameron playing the positions he's best suited to and are simply put, better players than him at the moment.

Very similar to Will Setterfield this year and Will Brodie the previous, sometimes there's just not the right mix for players to excel. Setterfield was never going to get the mid minutes he needed with Cripps and Walsh there, and Rayner's never going to get his time in the sun up forward or in the middle for Brisbane.

Whether or not they see things the same way and let him go/request a trade is an entirely different story though.

Keep him forward. He just impacts the game the most from that position.

Doesn’t need to have 30 touches. A solid 18 touch game from Rayner can lead to 10 score involvements.
