Cam Rayner

Damo the Oracle has spoken.
He reckons potentially Rayner on the way to be one of the great Lions players.
If it's good enough for Damo it's good enough for me.
End argument.

No-one has managed to tell me how Rayner is any different to last year? I think we can all agree that Rayner was a big disappointment for those that held any hope in him becoming a serviceable player.

C'mon that was one of the great 20 possession games of all time. Legendary.

For those who still cynically doubt Danster’s proven ability to rate players using stats, may I point out he was the first person to recognise the All-Australian potential of Harrison Petty.

Anyone can take live stats from 3min into the game HK, cmon. Can you post his stats at the conclusion of the game?

Yeah, it’s that bloody dodgy AFL app again I assume.

I expect it to update and show us Petty in his All-Australian glory any second now.

Come on danster168 it is finally time for you to fess up you got a few things major league wrong.

The guy you rated as the 19th best player in that 2017 redraft you mangled, Charles Spargo, cannot even get a game.

The player you rated the 4th best player in your redraft, Barely AvFritsch  or whatever his name is, gets 5 disposals, 4 of those when the game was all over as a contest. 2 contested possessions, lol.

And the player you hilariously rated 30th best player in that draft, Rayner, had basically killed the contest by 1/4 time, a very rare feat.

I think your heart was just beating a bit too true for the red and the blue when you ****ed that up so badly Dan. :)

LOL What are you banging on about? Rayner has been trash this season. 1 game doesn't change his poor games this year does it.

You overreacted to his Collingwood game last year and got embarrassed as Rayner didn't fire a shot the rest of the year. Don't make the same mistake again.

p.s. Fritsch made the AA squad. you destroyed your credibility and lost that debate forever.

AA squad lol. Nothing short of a joke.

2024 player ratings: Cam Rayner 11.08 v Barely AvFritsch 9.52.

2023 Melbourne finished 5th, Barely AvFritsch NOT IN TOP 10 B & F. v Cam Rayner playing for a team who were 1 goal short of winning the flag...5th in the B & F.

Fritsch is K Mart Kyle Langford. Rayner has now gone straight past him.

Barely AvFritsch worth pick 4.... :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Just do the honourable thing Dan and admit, Fritsch is not worth anywhere near that, and Rayner is clearly worth way more than the pick 30 you rated him. And he is making a mess of your pre-season stats predictions. What were they again?

Can we have the 29 players ranked above Rayner from the draft?

Your original and then the updated version to round 5 2024.

Time for a redraft :)

I won't be addressing Fritsch. You lost that argument convincingly last season. As soon as he made the AA squad, he showed he was elite. If kicking 6 in a granny wasn't enough lol. Unfortunately, you're gonna have to take to L.

Compare Rayner to a Jack Billings type, not to one of the great AFL forwards.

Time for a redraft :)
The29 above Rayner have been listed previously. And all 29 are still above Rayner. Imagine over-reacting to 1 game of football. Good God, didn't anyone learn their lesson last season? lol.

James Worpel. Same draft as Rayner: Averaging 27 touches a game this year. Rayner 17 :) Miiiiillllllllleeeess ahead of Rayner.

From memory...

4 Barely AvFritsch, Melbourne FC

18 Harrison Petty, Melbourne FC
19 Charles Spargo, Melbourne FC

30 Cam Rayner.

But no bias there. :tearsofjoy:

He had them all in there ahead of Rayner. Dan listed one player twice ahead of Rayner, and another 1-2 who weren't even in that draft ahead of Rayner. Anything to demote Rayner. :)

25 Players without doubt ahead of Rayner:
Brayshaw
LDU
Cerra
Fritsch
Naughton
Zac Bailey
Tim Kelly
Brent Daniels
Balta
Worpel
Sam Taylor
De Koning
Liam Ryan
McCartin
Gryan Miers
Xerri
L.Baker
D.Moore
Mihocek
Petty
Amartey
W.Powell
Higgins
Starcevich
Nathan Murphy

So we can start negotiations at 26:
But we have the following players that can be put ahead of Rayner: Ed Richards, Fogarty, Ainsworth, Farrell, Switkowski, Holman.

So Rayner is in the 26-32 range of his draft alone. At best, at very best, he has been the 26th best player of his draft.

People overreacting to 1 game is hilarious. Same thing happened last year. People really need another Rayner lesson? lol.

Btw: Nick Holman Round 9, 2018: 25 touches, 8 tackles. Everyone has good games in them.

Just looking at the 2017 draft, what a talent pool. Must be one of the deepest the AFL have ever had! What a stacked draft and deep, the value from 20 onwards especially!

42+ contributors at least from a draft!

1- Cam Rayner
2 - Andrew Brayshaw
4 - LDU
5 - Adam Cerra
6 - Jaiden Stephenson
9 - Aaron Naughton
11 - Aiden Bonar

30. Rayner
31. Nick Holman

You had Roarke Smith above Cam Rayner. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Spargo 18 wtf.

Ainsworth above him who barely played a game and was promptly delisted by the Eagles.

Starcevich at 12, lol.

Both "Paton" at 27 and "Ben Paton" at 24, so you rated him both better and worse than Xerri and Ainsworth.

What a mess danster168 :)

God damn I’d love a poll to see who BigFooty punters would rather have in their team between Cam Rayner and Gryan Miers.

This was a very even draft relative to other drafts, so much more difficult to nail the number 1 pick, or any high pick, than in other drafts.

The depth of talent taken from pick 20 through the rookie draft would probably never be matched.

Can danster168 put Rayner amongst the 2016 or 2018 draft for comparisons sake? :)

It's obviously a rolling list. Other than that, it's pretty accurate and it still puts Rayner around 30 as other players have jumped up.

Your list had Rayner above Fritsch.LOL! Fritsch is top 4 or 5 in this draft. Maybe higher.
