The thing about playing so well in a grand final that you’re up at 46 at half time and 73 and three quarter time is that there’s not really anyone that’s doing anything but playing well.

When exactly was the game 100% over is something that I can’t even pinpoint. We had blown a 46 point lead at the start of the year so a seven disposal and a goal third quarter by Rayner was certainly something that was greatly appreciated by our fans. He had a massive third quarter against the Cats but by the third quarter in this game it wasn’t as necessary.
This is good comment. Cam is great for us in structure and culture. Allows guys like Lohmann and Ah Chee to kick 4 each in a GF. I wont mention Daniher, Cameron, Bailey, Hipwood (McCarthy). All the guys love Cam and what the brings to the team. No way would I swap Cam for Fritta. Culture!

You may be not swap now, but you sure as hell would've swapped if if it was the 2017 draft. You would've won 2-3 flag, had 5 years of elite service versus 1 year. And had no bad seasons.

After all this time critiquing Rayner you still don't understand his place in the fabric of our club. Time to get your head out of the stats my dozy friend.

Thanks for backing us in. We were crap in 2017 and we were are here now. Fritta would have been better off with us but he is a different type of footballer and that we need now and I don't know where he would play in our structure. Our game plan relies on hard tackling forwards. Frittas play maybe good for the Dees but hard tackling he is not. How would Fritta fit in with our medium forwards like Charlie, McCarthy Bailey, Cam and Ah Chee and Lohmann. Plus bigger forwards, Daniher, Hipwood and Morris. I agree Dan that Fritta may be the only guy that would get a game in our forward line from your mob. We would like Gawn working in Tandem with Big O thou, though He is a great finisher but you can have the rtest i=of your guyd. modgliYou may be not swap now, but you sure as hell would've swapped if if it was the 2017 draft. You would've won 2-3 flag, had 5 years of elite service versus 1 year. I am working with Dan around this. Hopefully he will get there. The whole club loves Cam . They signed him to a 6 year deal. It is about the club culture and having the right people around at the right time. Personally I would take Cam for the fit with our club at the moment,.#. I think danster168 and I agree on some stuff here.

Simple question Dan. Lions are in their prime. Who would you want at our present time? You need to consider team structure, culture, individual and team performance Cam is a ripper culture wise. Do the boys rate Fritta in this way?

What does it even mean to be a good culture guy? Good in the locker room? A funny guy? Hard trainer? It's totally immeasurable. And some of the worst players are good for culture so it means nothing. Ben Brown was great for culture...

Right now, if I'm the Brisbane team, I'd want Fritsch over Cam. Both don't find much of the footy, so may as well get the guy who is elite at hitting the scoreboard. Fritsch is also great for culture. The guys love him. He also didn't have his afl career handed to him. He had to shine through the state leagues to get noticed and drafted. He is also a very slim frame but he flies for the ball in the aerial contests. Fritsch is also a more versatile player. He can play up and the ground and find the footy and when played in defence he find the footy and use his lethal left foot. Rayner was trialled there and it failed.

Forward craft: Fritsch
Kicking: Fritsch
Footy IQ: Fritsch
Consistency over career: Fritsch
Consistency within a game: Neither
Versatility: Fritsch
Marking: Even
Athleticism and Power: Rayner
Vertical leap: Even
Competitiveness: Even
Contested ball: Rayner
Defensive Pressure: Neither.

I maintain that if Fritsch was at Brisbane over Rayner, you've got 2 premiership cups right now. You would've beaten Collingwood by a comfortable margin.

Just to help you out, I bet Melbourne finish 8th or lower, Brisbane higher and one of either Petracca or Oliver seek trade at years end. $1000 is that bullish enough for you Demon [emoji48]

Brian Naylor was spruiking 3 months ago that pert was no good, finally fell on his sword and won’t be the last whilst the cultural adjustment is made Demons

A little harsh on Fritta there. Yes he gets easy out the back goals and doesn’t tackle or apply any pressure vs Cam Rayner but he does have a good footy brain.

what pressure does Rayner do? He's unfit and overweight. He's never been known for his defensive pressure. I would smash the guy in any distance over 1km. His endurance is cooked which is why he never cut it in the midfield which is what the lions would've wanted when drafting him.

LOL

He'd be Melbourne's fittest (and sober/clean) player.

So the unfit and overweight Rayner is able to lay 84 tackles in 2024 to Fritsch's 27 tackles?? Interesting.

Cam is a moments player. He's never someone who will dominate games, but he's someone who can change the direction of a game in any moment. He's the type of player you want if you're competing for flags, because they're few players out there who can wrestle back the momentum like Cam can.
