Don't recall him being particularly good or bad. The entire team was average for 2.5 quarters and then set up a flag with a blistering 45 minutes of footy.

All I know is that he was unbelieveable in the Prelim, and then you throw out rubbish like this:

I never looked at his stats after that game, didn't need to look at them to know that he was outstanding. Throwing up stats to try and downgrade what was an incredible Prelim final performance, particularly when the game was on the line and came up clutch just tells me you sit watching the footy looking at live stats, rather than just enjoying the show.

The bad was giving away 2? stupid free kicks when we had the ball was locked into our forward line late in the game. Himmelberg was putting a hard tag on him (it was a very contested moment but he was solely focused on shutting down Rayner) and was completely in Rayner's head. He wasnt playing well and it wasnt a great moment for a guy who is trying to play as a match winner. Danster is right if we had lost that game a lot of the blame would have gone on him. But we won, he was a matchwinner in the next game and the week after. Winners are grinners

Reality is he had a big step forward across the year (hence AA squad and was a big part of getting us the premiership). He still has some issues in consistency (but then again most guys who play that half forward role suffer the same) but looks like things have really started to click for him.

Next year will be another interesting one in how we change the forward line without Daniher. Is Rayner going to step up more as a key target? or will he focus more on the bursts on the forward flank where he looks so dangerous on the ball?

Fages and Danster both deserve to be recognised for the year Cam Rayner has had. Premiership and AA squad. Fages for ongoing belief, development and support and Danster for the reverse Mozz. I really thought that Dan would change his tune after Round 5 when Cam destroyed his mob and had 25 possessions while his idol had 5 possessions in that game. Anyway, here we are. Dan is fixed in his ways.

I don't watch games just to see how bad or good Cam Rayner is going, I don't have that level of obsession where I contribute 5 posts per page in a 200 page thread. Nor do I monitor stats sheets during or after games to form a view that my eyes could have told me from just enjoying the game.

I don't think I would enjoy footy if I consumed it in the fashion you seem to, it would be incredibly frustrating

Can we start talking recent times like 2024. Your idol had 5 possessions in Round 5 against the Lions, Cam had 25. Great to watch both of them in the same game and be able to assess where they are at.

it's one thing I like about this board/thread (although let's be honest, it's as big as a board) people don't get persona, minus the odd hot head. It's all friendly banter.

I'd be down for that beer. Fullerton, I'm not sure will ever play a game. Goodwin tore him to shreds in a presser when asked why Fullerton wasn't in the selection mix when Gawn went down and he said 'coz he can't win hit-outs at VFL level' so we went in without a ruck lol.

Sharp, I honestly have no idea. Don't know much about him. The club may prioritise Xavier Lindsay. I can't think off the top of my head who else would be out of the team for him. He only plays wing right? Because our wings are sort of set with Langdon and Windsor and now throw in Lindsay.

Perhaps clubs have worked out it's not worth blowing early picks on these types anymore.
