That's fine if you'd take him over Brayshaw, based on your club's list but Brayshaw's individual career has been much better than Rayner's overall.

I certainly don't think Rayner was a miss at pick 1 anyway.

I'd say he's found a balance around how to get involved in games where he's running at low impact mode. 19/20 disposals and 2/3 goals are becoming a baseline these days. If he gets around the 20+/2+ mark these days it means he's decisively swinging the momentum our way in some way shape or form. On that note alone - he's worth pick 1 that we spent on him.

If Rayner wants to gain the approval of the general masses, he could build on that 20+ disposal to 25+ more consistently. He'll win everybody over at that point as he has an explosive style of play and with 25 or more disposals the impact will be enormous.

Lions supporters are already sold so we don't care

No you don't and yes it does make sense.
You can still play / compete in an "elite sport", just not be very successful, you may not be at the "elite" level but that was NOT specified, just that the sport was elite. Many competitors at the Olympics are in this category.

eg I have competed in an Olympic sport (elite type of sport ?) at applicable national comps (elite level ?) for which honour I qualified, to become a member of the official national squad/team for international events and the Olympics (elite level ?). So is that "elite sport" enough ?

Yet I do NOT consider that I was elite. Mainly because I was absolutely outclassed and well beaten each time .
Therefore I think I am justified in saying that I played / competed in an "elite sport" without being "elite". QED.

Which demonstrates that your analysis and understanding on this is as poor as the rest of your analysis in this thread has been.
