Am I missing something, 10 touches, 1 goal?
Is this what the number one pick in the draft has become.
oh dear old boy.

if there was a forum award for embarrassing yourself you would have a cabinet full of them by now.

what will the remedy be this evening? will you go dislike some of my posts in other threads? perhaps you will go delete some of your other embarrassing takes so others stop pulling you up on them?

sadly i think the only true cure would be for you to delete your account.

Mr Tilly is more to be pitied than despised.

He’s having a rough week is the old boy. Tough week.

I’m still searching for Mr Meow who has gone missing. Searches are underway.

Didn’t expect much from Rayner heading in. He did exactly what a tagged player needed to do which is affect the game in other ways and his fourth quarter was spectacular in that regard.

I thought Scott should have sent O’Connor to Bailey before the game. He didn’t and Bailey made Geelong pay. If that was Cam’s only contribution for the game I would have considered that a success in itself.

Pivotal in our semi and preliminary final wins. Cam can hold his head high once again as a dual premiership player.

Honestly, I do not understand the Rayner hype whatsoever and am not trolling.
He was mentioned numerous times throughout the first half for not having a touch to his name.
He ended up getting involved as the game went on but he was rated one of the worst on for Brisbane so again, what am I missing?

If he managed 15 disposals, 3 tackles, 4 marks and a couple of goals, it would have been a pass but he's extremely overrated.

Why do you think Scotty chose to hard tag Rayner?

He is a flopper . We all know what he did in the QF

On the flip-side, Zac Bailey's a dead-set gun. That is the bloke who truly sparks this team. Midfield or forward, he was absolutely brilliant in this years finals campaign.
You are right - he didn’t have much of a game but his slamming tackles on Geelong players trying to get a centre clearance in the last quarter were really important in ensuring we didn’t get a sniff.

Plenty of players get tagged and still dominate.
McCluggage did it on the weekend so why does he get leniency if he's tagged and struggles because of it?

Scotty released the tag on Clug partway through the game after which Clug ran riot. But he kept the hard tag on Rayner.

Why do you think he chose to hard tag Rayner? The question isn’t about breaking tags it’s about why a coach would choose to hard tag a player who isn’t very good.

Ohhhhhhhhh here it is, knew it wouldn’t be too long. Your whole f$n team flopped in a grand final, not only that but the biggest dick heads in the league lead by a narcissistic flog. Fancy your big bad cats being manhandled like the were Ozkick kids by a flopper 😂😂😂😂

Again, you are making excuses for his performance.
The fact you are saying he was tagged indicates his game wasn't to the standard you had hoped so why the need to bump this thread and make out he was dominant?

Would I like him at Geelong, hell yeah!
But not for his price tag. He's been underwhelming so far to date.

He looks like he could become one of the best in the game but his lack of consistency is a worry.

If watching Cameron Rayner play Australian Rules Football doesn't bring you joy, then you don't love Australian Rules Football.

The reason every club would take Rayner is because he is a high impact player. He plays the most difficult position on the ground linking the midfield and forward line.

His consistent traits are his pressure and tackling which are elite.

The ability to win games off his boot and play moments are exceptional. And is where his value lies.

We don’t need him having 30 possessions every week to be impactful. That’s the job of Neale and Ashcroft.

We also don’t need to flog him in the midfield given how much depth we have there.

Of course a hard tag in the position he plays will impact performance. You also don’t have anywhere as much help from team mates as compared to a tag on an onballer. So of course I’m providing that context as justification for his performance.

If I were making excuses I would have raised the fact that he has been very unwell for the PF and GF.

How many more flops does he need for the Joel Selwood stand to be renamed in his honour?

In a hindsight 2017 draft, I'd without thinking take Sam Taylor ahead of Rayner. Anyone else would require a lot of consideration. He's definitely 2-4 in that pool. Brisbane would 100% take him again at #1. Not just an outstanding player, but the ultimate clubman - I have it on very good authority that he has turned down serious money from Victorian clubs (one of which tried to weave emotion/family meaning in to their pitch) to remain at the Lions.

And by the way, he'd probably appease you statnerd Supercoach merchants with the weekly 25+ touches and a goal if he played for a perennially mediocre Docklands tenant - the unfortunate reality is that genuine roleplayers like Cam are a design feature of premiership winning systems. In his first two winning Grand Finals, all-time Hawthorn and global sporting legend Sam Mitchell managed 13 & 12 disposals... in both matches his team-first attitude was a significant reason as to why we saluted. 2014 he had 33 touches and 2015, 34 - but go ask any Hawthorn premiership player from the 21st century which performance mattered most.

I remember listening to an interview with Darcy Wilmot who said the first person that messaged him after he was drafted was Zorko I think (who was the captain at the time), and then it was Rayner.

From everything I've heard, he's been huge in the evolution of the culture at the club especially amongst the young players. The same culture that a few years earlier saw multiple young players walk out of the club early in their career.
