Wonderful news and reward for improved performances. This guy has been amazing recently (offensively) and I think the only thing that was holding him back was his defensive game. He took a number of intercept marks last week but still does not have great tackling figures. I am keen to see him in the Red White and Black.

Go Cam.

Shenton has ave 26.5 disposals, 5 tackles & 6.25 marks in last 4 games in VFL. Well deserved promotion.

Just annoying it took them so long to throw him down back again as really could have played alot more if they kept him down there as he dominated last 6 games last year down back.

Agree, should've spent the whole year there.

Congrats to Shenton. SCG isn't exactly a ground that will utilise his strengths but I'm sure he'll do well. :thumbsu:

I'm not sure that his tackling figures are that high actually, your other stats look fairly accurate but

Using stats from TZ:
Code:
Round Disposals Marks Tackles
14 27 6 ?0
15 28 9 3
16 32 4 ?0
17 23 6 2
TZ sometimes omits tackles for every player but given that in round 14 even 1 tackle was listed against the player stat for other players and in round 16 players with 4 or more tackles were indicated.

To average 5 tackles in 4 weeks means he made 20 tackles in that time.
Given that we know for sure he made 5 tackles in two weeks in the other two weeks he had to average 7.5 tackles per week - I find it highly unlikely that the stats men decided to overlook those sort of tackling figures. In fact my info is that tackling and defensive pressure is what he needs to work on. The figures seem to support my statement.

Oops I may have stuffed up the tackles. I'm looking at stats on my phone and kind of looked at wrong column!!

Umm he's actually averaging 1 tackle per game :)

We update the tackles on TZ once we get them from champion data. Best to check match report on Sunday night or Monday for updated stats from games...

I think the potential represented by having Roberton and Shenton in the same team is awesome - and very handy for Simpkin. If we've got those two playing back and providing run, that will allow Simpkin to just focus on shutting his opponent down as the 2nd/3rd tall. I think he'll be flipping awesome in that role.

Can you imagine BT's commentary?

"Roberton...handballs over the top to Roberton....short pass to Roberton"!!

Listed as 188cms and 88kgs
Gwilt is 188cms and 96kgs.

Straight swap seems pretty obvious but I wonder how Shenton would play a more defensive role. He seems best suited to attacking the game from half back. Not sure who he could even line up on??

Could he line up on a guy like McGlynn and keep him quiet while going the other way? What's Cam's pace like? Would he be able to tag a guy like OKeefe or McVeigh?

I've been waiting for this for some time, he has really deserved his upgrade for ages now!

Hope he makes as good a go of it at AFL level as he has at VFL level.

That is most impressive indeed. For Norwood he was predominantly a leading forward and a dead eye dick kick on goal. Always timed his leads very well. So he can play there as well if needed. Good to see him playing well in defence, he does have some toe when needed.
