Has walked out on Geelong after only being offered a 1 year contract. Showed some form in limited opportunities with a good side, kicked a few bags up forward at different times.

Thought I'd post this here to get the thoughts of Collingwood supporters.....

With those stats, he seems like he can be a reasonable goal-sneek. I don't think age is the worry, but the ability to play consistent football in the midfield might be.

Question 1:
Can he play in the midfield?

Question 2:
Is he quick?

Question 1: Played midfield in VFL but with the likes of our midfield wouldn't get the game time there

Question 2: From what i've seen, not particularily

In the VFL he can rack up 25 touches and a couple of goals but in the AFL he is out of his depth in the middle.

No, not really. He was however our best kick for goal.

If you are willing to take the good with the bad, Thompson obviously wasn't when you look at his stats and when he was dropped, then he would be handy. He is not a ball winner, nor much of a goalsneek and needs to be fed but he is an excellent finisher. We only offered him the one year because he is competing for a spot with Ablett, Chapman and Steve Johnson, so he was only ever going to be a depth player for us.

Is there anyone you guys wont take?

You know your struggling when your getting excited for a player of cams quality.

Whos getting excited? It was merely a post inquiring on our thoughts of the guy. Go away please.

Ummm, people on fans web sites don't actually do the drafting, well not at Collingwood anyway.
Is that the way they do it down at sleepy hollow?

not as excited as you obviously do about David Hassalhoff! You can't expect anyone to take you or anything you say seriously with an icon like that can you? I mean, come on!!!

second that. Unless your midfield gets a shot in the arm, Thurley isn't going to be much use to you.

Yes, we do. Perhaps it explaisn your poor drafting of late and our great drafting... :thumbsd:

Actually, he was. As was I, as were a majority of the members of this board.

Can you say the same about the members of the Geelong board?
1990? Yeah, pretty sure

1990 - were you alive then?

Yes, I was alive then, and I was at the Grand Final.
It is really an awesome experience to see ones team win a flag.
Of course that is something you would know nothing about.

I went back to Vic Park after the game and celebrated all night, I stayed there for night and partied all the next day
Ah, the memories, they will be with me forever.

Now, what can you tell me about your memories of 1963?

Doesnt really like the hard stuff ie tackles, and his stats do make an iompression but atleast 50% of those goals were Thurley just getting on the end of other peoples good work ie Kingsly and tarrent. I didnt really see him do that much exciting work himself. I think Carlton or North will have a ping at him before the pies.

Thanks for your advice.

However, where did you ever get the idea, that I take any notice of what you say.
I don't tell you what, when and to whom you can post.
So don't presume you can do it me - Get it?
