No point putting links to his interview with Gilchrist up, if you haven't heard or seen it by now, that's a pretty big rock. He's a right-handed batsman who has opened for Australia in the past, making his debut against England in the 2017/18 Ashes series, before following it up with one of the all-time bone headed on-field actions against the Saffas in Cape Town. Has played 8 test matches, strikes it about 40%, roughly same as Marcus Harris, and has a top score of 82 not out, with 3 fifties.

Not exactly setting the game alight and didn't really have a big impact in first class cricket before hand, averaging less than 40 runs.

As one of the three cricketers to be suspended, he's the first available for national selection. It creates an intriguing situation, with Warner and Smith all but guaranteed their spots on return from suspension, does Bancroft get a look back in?

He did a pretty good hatchet job on Warner on live TV, personally throwing him under the bus and then reversing over a few times.

Does he make it back? His return to BBL didn't leave anything to be desired.

The letter and the interview reeked of someone who has disappeared up their own bumhole and probably not learned a great deal.

Blatant cheating and then lying about it aside, I just don't know if he has the talent long term.

Go back to shield and see how he goes. Rather persist with Harris for the moment.

Never really rated him as a batsman, and after that interview I don't really rate him as a person. Don't want him back in.
Yep. Even ignoring his actions and interview he has a horrible technique.

Wouldn't have a problem with him getting back in if he plays the same season in the Shield as he did to get selected the first time. Behind Burns as it stands, but not by much.

He’s no better than Harris from what I’ve seen, nor renshaw so shouldn’t be back anytime soon. Hope he goes away, makes runs and pushes his case that way

Leaving aside all the personalities and the interviews and all the rest: Smith and Warner are both good enough to be automatic selections if they are considered available for selection. They are by some margin the best two bats in the country. Bancroft, on the other hand, will need to make FC runs to earn a spot. Questionable whether it would be wise to have him open alongside Warner so if Warner is considered available once his suspension ends and then makes runs on his return, it might be hard for Bancroft to get back in for a few years.

Why doesn't this idiot get anywhere near the same level of backlash as James Hird.

Both cheated, both blamed other people for their mistake. Bancroft is even worse, because it's not like he was whacking Dank or the AFL, he chose to bury his own team mate under the bus, even though they're both equally responsible. People like him are cancer to team morale.

People when it happened: “Warner forced his hand!”

People after the interview: “Bancroft threw Warner under the bus!”

Which is it?
