Blues land ex-Hawk in coaching coup

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-22/blues-land-exhawk-in-offfield-coaching-coup

"CARLTON has landed an off-field coup, with Hawthorn assistant Cameron Bruce joining Brendon Bolton's panel after the departure of experienced coaching director Neil Craig.

Bruce has been part of Alastair Clarkson's coaching team for the past five years and worked alongside Bolton from 2013-15.

The 37-year-old, who spent three years in charge of midfield and stoppages before moving to the backline in 2017, has told the players of his decision."

A bit of a loss for Hawthorn. Bruce has been good as a development coach. Good luck with the Blues there Cameron.

A spot opens up for Hodge...?

Hodge will surely go media after football but if he did want coaching, he really should go to another team. Cant think of which team he should go too though when Clarko is the best learn from.

Best of luck to Bruce. He's been a more valuable acquisition on the coaching panel then he was as a recruit, and hopefully this move propels him into contention for a job as AFL coach in the near future.

Interesting we've apparently got Darren Glass (WCE Full Back) lined up to fill the coaching position. With Chris Newman doing fantastic work at Box Hill all year, we may see some more structural changes over the offseason.

Darren Glass has a similar, highly regarded reputation as Chris Newman.
Outstanding leader and person, held in very high esteem by club and fans alike at the eagles.

We've always been about getting good people to our club. Glass seemingly ticks all the boxes.

*sad to see Bruce go, seemed to thrive at the hawks. All the best Cam

Best of luck Cameron!

As far as the rumoured appointment of Darren Glass, I would welcome it with open arms. The man has a Masters of Business Administration so definitely has his head screwed on right. I know he use to be an assistant at Adelaide while Phil Walsh was coach, not sure if that's still the case.

yep, esp if it's not necessarily a promotion. Clarko will be pretty pissed. Clearly doesn't have it in him (or the desire) to become a head coach, otherwise he wouldn't have left.

Hate losing intel as well, but even though it's not a promotion, it's still a step up for Bruce.

Different club, different stage of development, different environment and coaching philosophy. It's really not different to Mitchell going to West Coast.

Best of luck to Cameron in his new role, has done a terrific job in his time at Hawthorn

Glass will be a fantastic addition too. As others have said, he has always been held in the highest regard and was a damn fine defender to boot

Where does bolts get off first he beats us now he's stealing our coach
Carlton pffft who would want to join them
Hi Hawkers. Bruce is just getting with The Program. Lol. You should be proud that your club has produced so much coaching talent and that it continues to do so.
Presumably Bruce worked with Bolts when he was at Hawthorn. He is just progressing through the ranks. Be proud of him!
