Cloke is a hack player and I'm happy he's going!

As far as you and I are concerned, I know you don't like me because I've disagreed with a few things you've had to say and you're just looking for any excuse to get rid of me and annoy me by removing posts.

Shit what a mistake I've made, expressing my own opinion on a footy discussion forum.

BTW, Do you honestly think Cloke is a good player?

I think you might be flattering yourself in terms of your impact on me. I don't look at usernames very often, aside from a couple of instantly recognisable ones that I have been dealing with for years. I have zero agenda to get rid of certain posters. If they contribute meaningfully, anything in the past is forgotten.

My aim is to retain each and every Carlton supporter that visits these boards, but they still have follow the rules and if they want to express a negative opinion, I encourage them to do so constructively. Flippant dismissals of players like 'hack', 'spud', 'shit' and worse, serve absolutely no purpose. It just makes the board look low brow. Saying that a player is not required because they are too slow, too inconsistent, not hard enough, not tall enough, not talented enough is constructive criticism.

Other posters do it now and then, by and large if they are generally constructive, they are entitled to having the odd slip here and there. Those that persistently just denigrate players and/or the club and steer clear of genuine discussion, are dissuaded.

Eventually however, some posters to tend to make a reputation for themselves, positively or negatively. We must have hundreds of regulars on this board, and you have by and large been off my radar aside from a flicker of recognition, so not sure why you want to consider yourself a target.

If true, then all the best to him. The surprise here is he will leave Carlton before Carlton delists him.
Had a crack, but just way too slow and at times looked below afl standards.
This is a good example of an appropriately worded negative comment.

I like Hampson in the forward line as well. If he can just learn to time his run & leap a little better, he could almost be "un-playable". Would be an ideal partner in the forward line for Waite & Henderson.

he would be ideal...

I would include Setanta in that mix as well if he gets his legs right.

Add in that they are all excellent at ground level as well and have good second efforts.

I too feel Cameron has given his all and wish him God's speed with his new endeavours. :thumbsu:

Good .....

PS: Russell is shit. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

You've got to stop helping me. Luckily everybody knows your tongue is firmly planted in ...

So where were you when all the Russell hating threads were going around, or when after each game all the "this player is shit he cost us" threads were around?

BTW after arguing with me for almost a FULL day I doubt you'd be forgetting me so soon. I don't know about you but I had to take that day off uni with a foot injury so I literally had nothing better to do.

Also you are still yet to answer my question, do you honestly think Cloke is a good player?

Ok i wasnt going to post these small facts, but seeing as the club deprives fans of info during the off season i will share them with you. Includes some info on other clubs too.

- Mitch Thorp will not be picked by Carlton. He is more than likely going to play for Richmond.
- Carlton has no interest whatsoever in Russell Robertson.
- As i think ericpascoe mentioned, the club was considering trying to rookie Johnson, but that tactic has been scrapped and the club will leave him on the list for another year.
- Adam Pattison and Jesse Smith will play for Hawthorn next year.
- Simon Buckley is a 80/20 shot of being picked up next year. Aaron Kite will be rookied.
- Warnock is about 2 weeks from being able to do full training.
-Jarrad Waite is unlikely to play in the NAB CUP. He will play Bullants practice matches and if all goes to schedule he may sneak in for 1 NAB match, however the focus is on Rd 1.
- Luke Ball will stay at St Kilda
- Joel Macdonald will play for Fremantle or North Melbourne next year.

Interesting to compare sources Blueinblood. The Cloke scenario depends only on him wanting to go there and Port being prepared to pick up his contract. He met with them in Adelaide on Friday - they are keen and I hear that he is warming to the idea. As for Johnson, I'm still hearing that there is a big chance he will be delisted. Re Robbo, one of my sources says no, and one says yes, so anybody's guess. Have not heard the Buckley thing at all. Rookie maybe

I was just flicking through our win against Brisbane at the Gabba to look for a piece of play.

I noticed another play right before three quarter time.

Murphy kicked inside fifty to Hampson who outmarked Henderson on the lead near the fifty and the boundary line. :p :D

Hampson was just too big and quick for Henderson on the move once he had taken front position.

Yet Hammer didn't even take the ball cleanly at the highest point.

Hammer isn't bad at protecting the drop of the ball using his body and reach.

Henderson is 196 cms, yet even he couldn't even get a fist near the ball and move Hampson under the ball.

If Warnock is fit, I think we will see Hampson spend more time forward now that Fevola has gone.

The best thing I saw in that game was Jamison outmuscling and outmarking Bradshaw in a one on one.

Will definitely play on Fevola.
But to be fair on Hendo, he was, other than that instance, continually fisting the ball away, in crucial moments in that game.

So where were you when all the Russell hating threads were going around, or when after each game all the "this player is shit he cost us" threads were around?
I was forming the quality policy, warning, threatening and banning people on both sides of the fence for their attacks on each other and for typing immature stuff that was eliciting negative responses. In fact Russell was the catalyst for the crackdown. Russell stuff was being merged or deleted with monotonous regularity, prompting much applause and much discontent. Did you think about this question?

BTW after arguing with me for almost a FULL day I doubt you'd be forgetting me so soon. I don't know about you but I had to take that day off uni with a foot injury so I literally had nothing better to do.

Unfortunately, this is the usual response ...

7 seconds after i've pressed send for this post i'll have forgotten about who i was responding too.

This is true of most of my dealings. You are words on the screen until such time as we develop a more tangible link through outside activities that pop up now and again. After a while I start to identify those that push the boundaries, or a username tends to invoke a positive or negative reaction in me, but I can't remember why unless I care to do a search. After some time, those that have an impact are remembered for their sense of humour, their longevity, consistent sponsorship contributions or expertise in a certain area.

It's just one of those things I guess.

Also you are still yet to answer my question, do you honestly think Cloke is a good player?
I think Cloke is an average player who tries to extract the best out of himself. Do I think he has a place in our team for the future? No, unless he consistently replicated some of his better games. I have no issue with Cloke going. He has done little wrong by us however and right from the start worked hard to do his best. He served his purpose when we were light on for ruckmen and deserves to chase a better deal than the short term uncertain future he has with us.

Do I think he is a hack? No way. He deserves a little more respect than that.

The closest I come to disrespecting a player like that is when they show an obvious lack of passion for the club and don't put in the hard yards. If you play at the highest level, you should be attempting to put in your best effort. Fev vs Fremantle at the Gold Coast was one such occasion where I was down on him. Even then I thought he might have been injured but the truth was he was disinterested and I won't abide by that.

I wasn't knocking Henderson, I was giving Hampson a wrap for presenting and positioning himself well. There wouldn't be a defender in the AFL with the height, size and pace to go with Hampson.

Five minutes before 3/4 time, Stevens drove the ball in deep to Fevola.

Henderson read the play sitting in the hole in front of Fev and stood under the ball to smash it away with Fevola bearing down on him.

Brave player. :thumbsu:

Then all 70 kgs of Jeff Garlett ragdolled Joel McDonald. :D

Well, I appreciate your efforts then on reducing the Russell hating. That was going too far. :thumbsu:

But it still doesn't explain why you didn't delete the threads made by people blaming players for our losses throughout the season which consisted of a lot of posts calling them things much worst than a hack.

He refused to go off the ground. That's disrepectful to the players and the coach; and since he's a bad player, that sort of act affects supporters too.

Seriously, you have no idea just how much we do delete. There may be some that slip through the cracks even with four moderators. After a loss, we have a wave of opposition trolls that get taken care of first and foremost. We sometimes allow posters to vent in the heat of the moment, removing the worst of them. You really are in no position to make this comment either.

Clutching at straws. It's a simple thing, refrain from player abuse. It doesn't warrant a debate. I'm hoping you are not attempting to make yourself more memorable by starting something. I've got better things to do.

So you don't think it's disrespectful to go against the coach's wishes and refuse to go off? I think it is.

As far as player abuse goes, fair enough I can see the need to restrict it and I will avoid it where possible from now on.

And concerning the "starting something", mate I've got nothing against you as long as you've got nothing against me.

It's getting late and I have my final exam for the year tomorrow, so i'm going to leave it at that.

From what I've been told, as of last week when I posted my thread, the football department were pretty much resigned to the fact he is leaving.

Maybe Cam will change his mind, never know for sure what will happen.

I don't recall the incident so can't comment. It has nothing to do with the hack send off however.

I play the cards dealt. Judging moderator actions without the facts is my only concern.

I love the people who call Cam a hack that has done nothing in the AFL.
Part time ruck even though he is not a ruckman - does job asked of him to best of ability
Power forward - stayed out of Fev's way unlike others who have the bruises to prove they could not. Can take a grab, can present up ground and can kick long.
Without the threat of Fev's angst around Cam may have a window of opp and elevate his game to a great level.
The MC was happy with his role. Unfortunatley certain incidents including the missing training caper did him no favours.
There have been some wild stories spread about Cam by many people who obviously don't like the bloke.
If Cam does go I wish him all the best and look fwd to seeing which player becomes the new target for all these clowns who like throwing crap at our own.
If he stays I hope he does us proud. Will never win a Coleman I know but will do his job!
