Cameron Cloke Leaving.

If it's true I wish him the best. He's not the most talented footballer, but you have to admire his determination to succeed at this level wherever he ends up. Carlton is probably not the ideal place for him with Warnock, Kruezer, Hampson and Jacobs all ahead of him for the ruck position.

He had plenty of opportunities to take the ruck role when we first picked him up. He didn't succeed, so we tried playing him forward, he didn't succeed at that either. Then he decides when he should be having a spell during the game instead of the coach and then goes on to set a bad example for Jeff Garlett.

Cloke was given every opportunity at Carlton, now he wants to leave because he thinks he's getting treated unfairly and has a better deal somewhere else, he just has to face the fact that he's not a very good footballer.

Yep, he's not a hack player at all is he? I mean he just knows what he's doing when he's on the field and even refuses to go off when the coach tells him to coz he knows he's so vital to our success!

Cloke hasn't shown anything as an AFL footballer. Hence the reason I'm happy he's going. He is a hack player no doubt about it and the fact that he's had a falling out with Ratten over not leaving the field when told to shows he has no class. See ya later Clokey.

Maybe in 2 years time perhaps, but he has still has yet to come to terms with the skill-level and commmitment required to be a decent AFL player.

Leave him as a full time ruckman, and rotate Warnock and Kruezer in the foward (along with the Irishman obviously)

If this is correct, you couldn't blame Cam for taking up a 3 year contract with Port. That is a steal for someone in his position. He's obviously never going to be a matchwinner, but he does give it his all, and when he does play forward, will certainly give you a contest.

We have a quality policy in these parts and that doesn't involve unnecessary player abuse, or repetitive negativity as opposed to constructive criticism. It just lowers the standard overall.

How many forwards are 206 cms tall?

Hampson moves and leads more like a forward than Warnock with his agility, leap and legspeed.

Hampson is better at ground level than Warnock...Can one grab balls off the deck like Kouta and run away with the ball.

My thoughts exactly.

Really enjoying Hammo in the ruck ATM and reckon he'll be great for us, in the ruck

However he's never shown anything up forward and has rarely been used there, so don't understand why people think he'll slot straight in. Yes, he's tall and very quick, and although his marking is getting better it doesn't come naturally, his kicking (also improving) is still uncertain. Apart from that, he's got to learn to time his leads and learn the nuances round goal that good forwards have.

As for Clokey, fair enough for Clokey, was only getting limited opportunity of late. Reckon he's been a good servant for the club and always gave his all, however for mine he fell in the bracket of being too slow for a permanent forward position and too short for a ruck position, ie. his natural attributes didn't help him in getting a game.

I think Ratts will throw a kruz, warnock or hampson down in that forward line during games just to put pressure on defences. but i see Waite, henderson, setanta all being able to play the KFP.

Cloke should move on, he was completely under utilised when he got his chances..he is not a ruckman, he is a forward, play him as one and he may have been more useful to the club. he may be slow, but he can take a pack mark, he knows when and where to leave and he has a decent kick on him. He'll do well at Port.

I was just flicking through our win against Brisbane at the Gabba to look for a piece of play.

I noticed another play right before three quarter time.

Murphy kicked inside fifty to Hampson who outmarked Henderson on the lead near the fifty and the boundary line.

Hampson was just too big and quick for Henderson on the move once he had taken front position.

Yet Hammer didn't even take the ball cleanly at the highest point.

Hammer isn't bad at protecting the drop of the ball using his body and reach.

Henderson is 196 cms, yet even he couldn't even get a fist near the ball and move Hampson under the ball.

If Warnock is fit, I think we will see Hampson spend more time forward now that Fevola has gone.

The best thing I saw in that game was Jamison outmuscling and outmarking Bradshaw in a one on one.

Will definitely play on Fevola.

I like Hampson in the forward line as well. If he can just learn to time his run & leap a little better, he could almost be "un-playable". Would be an ideal partner in the forward line for Waite & Henderson.
