Yeah I know but I still reckon he would go okay ..he has better technique than half of the aussies batters currently in the t20 squad and his power hitting is top rate


But yeah first class cricket is where its at.....far out cannot wait for the Ashes to see Green against the poms ...lets hope the Australian cricket board and get a test before then
 
Ever since his back injury and more focus on his batting he's gone to ridiculous batting levels, this kid could average over 50 with the bat at test level, his bowling looks tidy but not anywhere near that level and will massively punish his body slamming into the crease with a 200cm frame.

Before the summer I heard Greg Chappell talking about him. This is before I even seen him play. The word from him was this kid was a special batting talent and if people pigeon hole him as an all rounder they will miss the fact the first and foremost he is a specialist bat and a very very talented one. Chappell was a gun tallish bat himself so I trusted what I heard and not been let down in what I seen since. It was weird hearing all the other commentators during games try to hype up his bowling but really he is a gun young bat and any bowling he should do , just see as a bonus and not try to play him as an allrounder at 6.
I think he should bat at 5 in Test team in coming seasons and when Smith retires probably 4 is perfect for him.

His bowling makes him a better player. I don't see why it would impact his batting.

Listen to Steve Smith talk about his bowling was a distraction and only improved his batting dramatically after he decided he was really a batsman first and foremost. Does not mean they cannot bowl but it hard to be master of two roles in cricket if you really much better at one of them and only good at the secondary skill. If they over bowl him and expect too much from him that clearly going to eat into his training time on his batting. Focus on the batting is the way to get most of this guy. Bottom line I trust someone like Greg Chappell to know more than either of us and to hear Steve Smith say the same for himself is good enough for me.

Mate, I could not give a shit about the other stuff. That is why I laugh at the irrelevant stuff about that. Only relevant is his know how of being a gun batsmen and seeing in Cam the ability to be a gun bat himself. As someone that bowled a bit and a relatively tall batsman he is great person to have some insight about this.

I just happened to hear the end of this interview on radio in October, before I ever seen Green play,
What Chappell said after the 4 and a half minute mark stood out to me at the time and we near end of summer now and having seen Green now, could not agree more.

No so much lesser batsman because they had to bowl, but I can think of a few who became better batsmen after they bowled less. Ian Chappell is an example. Used to bat 5 or 6 and bowled plenty of overs of leg spin with reasonable success. It was Les Favell's idea that Chappell elevated to 3 and bowled less. It turned his career around.

We can turn up decent bowlers from our first class comp regularly. He's way more important as a batsman. That's where we appear lightweight now. His confidence from going up to test cricket must be sky high.

Because he has to spend long long hours practicing his bowling in the nets and going over bowling plans and tactics instead of spending that time on his batting?

Not to mention being a fast bowler is incredibly tough on the body, it will lead to injuries and fatigue that will also effect his batting...
