Nah stuff that hit and giggle crapI actually think the IPL would be good for him
Allow him to be comfortable amongst the world's elite.
The core of his batting technique is already solid - so the IPL might help him increase his range and expedite his confidence
Almost 300 international wickets but OK..
Waugh was a decent bowler early on but he wasn’t blessed with anything like the ability or tools of Green. The majority of his wickets came from bowling the middle overs in limited overs games and while he was smart he isn’t fit to tie Green’s bootlaces
Wrong. Most of the wickets came from bowling late overs in odi's. By the early 90's he was almost done as a real option. Green has more natural talent, but he's not a proven match winner or anything yet.
That doesn’t strengthen your argument.
..that somebody who was a key bowler for a world cup win & the number one odi all rounder should be held in higher esteem than somebody who hasn't done anything yet?!
I'm expecting the bowling average to be a little lower but either way, you'd take that for a career.Cam Green will make 5000 + runs @40 +
Take 150 + wickets @30 or so IMO.
They just talked about Stokes joining the 5000 and 150 club... only 4 others (Sobers, Botham, Kapil Dev and Kallis) have ever done it. Would be a fair effort.Cam Green will make 5000 + runs @40 +

Most exciting prospect since Cummins won us a test in SA as an 18yo. Smith kind of snuck up on us.
No, they were not a minnow, they were arguably and statistically the next worst team - or level with New Zealand, which is what I said in the first place
My whole point was that people often only apply context when it suits them and a good example of it is people who write off Murali because he took heaps of wickets against crap sides but don’t acknowledge that lots of bowlers have done it.
Do you think Dale Steyn is the best modern fast bowler because he took 20 wickets at 9 in two tests against a rank New Zealand side? No. All that did was show how much better he was than their rubbish batsmen. His genius was demonstrated by his performances in Asia and in the Boxing Day test etc
Coming along fine. I agree he might be better at 5 than 6 as a batsman but then we start to run into - he should bat higher up the order and bowl more often - and a lot gets put on a young player's shoulders.
His bowling was never anywhere near what Green is capable of though. Yeah, he had a few tricks different slower balls etc. but he was a pretty stock standard medium pacer.
Steven Waugh was a very, very effective bowler in both forms of the game before his batting hit its' stride.
I am old, in fact 2 years older than the twins, so I saw his entire career. The guy was a quality all-rounder before he stopped bowling.
If Green turns out 75% the player that S. Waugh was then we're doing well.
Yep, Waugh could never bowl over 140 and obviously not as tall as Green.
Green probably a better batsmen at same age as Waugh though.
Of course, but end of the day Steve Waugh was a batsman and that’s what made his name and what he was picked for. His bowling didn’t really come into the selection side of things unless it was ODI cricket or maybe pre 1992 in tests (he was picked at 7 in the West Indies in 1991 for a couple of tests and we went in with only 3 specialist paceman, which backfired badly 2nd innings of 4th test).
