He's a gun. I watch quite a bit of shield cricket online and his batting AND bowling techniques are top notch. That said, he is too young and too fragile at the moment. I would have him around test squads for experience but certainly not playing yet. He is something very special, so be patient with him.

There are a few good young uns coming through - Sutherland, Street, Solway, Fraser-McGurk are the stand outs. I still hold out ope for Pope, I think he just needs to learn consistency, he has some beautiful wicket taking balls.

O'Keefe was solid as a second spinner but this is probably his last season.

Green is an exciting prospect, but I suspect he'll be more James Pattinson or Pat Cummins eventually, great bowler but good tail ender. Maybe develop enough to be a number 7 at test level.

Another hundred, it will be interesting to see if when he starts bowling again if his batting stops off or will his bowling not get back to what is was last season as he maintains form with the bat.

I don’t think you can select him in the Aussie team if he doesn’t bowl, but he will be ideal player for us particularly in the sub continent tours

If he didn't bowl but kept making hundreds then why couldn't he be selected?

He's 200cm and only 20 years old.

If he was a footballer we'd be talking about him needing to grow into his body; he's in exactly the same boat as a cricketer. He's going to be a star, but there's no reason to rush him into the side. Let him get his body right (and bowling again) first.

Even at 20 the power he possess is incredible. Some of his flicks and drives were not only timed but they also rocketed off the bat.

The most impressive thing for me was that he made his first ton down the order and then went up a gear when he moved to the middle order. At his age I expected him to struggle.

You'd hope if they do fast track him into the side it's at number 7. Don't put too much pressure on his batting to begin with. We don't need him to feel the pressure of averaging 50 with the bat. Just let him settle in and score some quick 50s at the bottom and bowl a little. If he starts scoring runs often promote him to 6.

An average of mid 30's at 6 wouldn't be any more or less than what Wade is doing at the moment, plus the bonus of his bowling (when fit) But i agree no nee to rush him in. He is going to be the perfect git for when we play India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka when we need a genuine all rounder so we can play another spinner.

In the past we've MMarsh Henriques, cartwright and they are all handy but not threatening enough with the ball and struggled anything past 50 with the bat in those conditions.

Wade's only not being talked about because he scored 2 ashes centuries in a series that out bats generally struggled and because we have kept winning through summer. If we lose a series Wades average will be scrutinized again.

Let him start at 7 so he can bowl and score runs rather than be worrying about scoring first.

Marsh and Henriques have never had a FC batting average at any point in their FC career close to what Green does at the moment.

Henriques has 10 tons @ 34 across 100 (163 inn) matches over 14 years.

M.Marsh has 11 tons @ 32 across 102 (176 inn.) matches across 11 years.

Green has 3 tons @ 47 across 14 (21 inn.) matches across 2 years

Green is a genuine fast bowling prospect, he's got 28 wkts @ 21 with 2 x 5fers from only 15 innings. Marsh, Cartwright and Henriques aren't in the same postcode as a bowling prospect.

Thanks for providing the stats backing up my exact point.

3 FC tons before he's 21 would say he's a much much better batsman than either of those 2.

Wonder who the last Australian was to have 3 tons before 21, Phil Hughes? Pucovski might've just snuck it in.

Edit: Pucovski hit his 3rd at around 21 and 1 month

He's certainly better than what I expected. I still want to see him develop over the next couple of years though.

I get what your saying but if he keeps this up for the start of next shield season its going to be hard to say no, especially if he's bowling again.

Its not just the Shield he's been good in as well, he had his One-day season as well.

When you look at next in line, you'd probably only have Maddinson, Pucovski and Patterson (the 2nd two at a stretch) ahead of him as a pure bat, but two of those guys have their own issues they need to work through and Patterson doesnt have much behind him at the moment (that change quickly with the next shield season though).

His case could be overwhelming by the 1st test next summer

Yep, it's definitely getting to that point.

I think being a specialist middle order bat at the moment, probably works in his favour as well, as besides the Burns opening slot, the Australian top order is locked for a while.

He's 4th in the SS run scoring at the moment, with the most 100's this year.

He's a legitimate chance of topping the runs for the season, with him being only 70 behind Cooper.

Fantastic hundred arguably his best

Came in when the team was in trouble and batted all day

What I like is that for a young bloke he is very good at judging the game at certain periods.. He can be defensive when the team is in trouble..digs in and then attacks when called for

He is very strong off his legs and plays the spin well....he does have issues around off stump but which batsmen doesn't ???

Hopefully he continues on with his good form
