Watson wasn't 200cm.
That's the risk you take to be great.
McGrath had same frame & front on action. Had injuries but also long career

Watson was shorter but heavily built like Green will be, which puts huge strain on his back and muscles for fast bowling.

I'm guessing McGrath didn't spend much time working on his batting or many hours at the crease...

Mixed action is biggest risk.

Green won't bowl anywhere near overs McGrath did!!

Whilst the sentiment is fair enough to protect one of our most talented players in recent decades, I think the risk is worth persisting at the moment. Even a bad injury isn't likely to permanently leave him unable to bat at full potential, although obviously he'd need time out of the game completely in this instance.

From his perspective, if he wants to really leave his mark on the game having both options gives him greater scope to get there. If he is thinking to also maximise his $ returns, all rounders are get significantly more attention from T20 franchises around the world.

What a talent, and this is just his batting. Maybe his bowling should just be considered as a nice added bonus?

Have to say supreme batting talent.
Less than convinced with his bowling however since his injury.
Think he may want to focus on batting in the long term and become a part time bowler who bowls heat in bursts.
I guess a positive that he's already demonstrated is that he is tight and threatening enough to be economical, which means he allows the strike bowlers to bowl shorter and sharper spells. For a 5th bowling option, that has value. Of course, we'd all like to see him become the wicket taking threat that he is at domestic cricket - but that will take time. At the moment though, he's playing a role.

Even as a fifth bowler you need to take wickets though. Can't just plug an end otherwise we will never take enough wickets to consistently win test matches.
Would rather he be a reliable partnership breaker in the Shane Watson mould. Bowls 10 to 15 overs and innings and takes one key wicket. Currently it's zero and he doesn't look very threatening.

It’s a fair point but his bowing was ridiculous before going down, and he hasn’t lost any heat from the injury or remodel. Wouldn’t be throwing that away, the wicket taking will come back

It's not that simple. Sometimes bowlers just never come back to their best.
He appears to have lost the skills to take wickets or the know how at least.

Ridiculous. Maybe if he was given more than one or two over spells he could execute these skills and know how at test level.

He’s bowled for what, less than 6 months after starting up again? I’m going to give him a bit of time to pick it back up, all at age of like 23 as well

This is the most cricket comment ever. Every success in cricket must come with a ‘but’.

I think that's being too kind. He's a big boy he would know he's not been bowling well.

he was basically told to come on as an impact bowler. He isn’t an impact bowler. He is a line and length bowler who does best with the new ball. He didn’t get a bowl until like 50 overs in because paine can’t captain for shit.

He started as a bowler, of course people are going to discuss it.

I never saw him bowl before his injury, I'm curious what has changed.

I have quick as 140 plus heaps of bounce swing away....

remodelled action just needs more overs ....he will come good

But how good is his batting atm....phew I would have him bat 5 in the test team with head at six ...get head away from the newer ball green has a better technique

sneaky chance for the t20 world cup :)
