His domestic T20 stats

Batting average - 16
Bowling average - 40

I'm happy for him, he seems like a humble kid with a lot of potential but talk about overpaying

I'm also worried the more white ball cricket he plays will dilute his red ball performances where we really want him to shine

Indians love the Aussies, I don't recall one of the big multi million dollar deals paying off, Cummins got spanked everywhere and most knew he sucked at T20's prior to the deal. Symonds was well past it and Maxwell has been hit and miss, mainly miss lol.

His got power, so to pay him that sort of money surely they need him to open the batting but his somewhat unproven in the format thats for sure.

fantastic innings today with a broken finger to support Carey

happy cam 50 not out

fingers crossed the ton is coming in india

Had an excellent Test, made a contribution with ball and bat - and a more significant one than has been the case lately.

I get that he has a broken finger but that was one of the dullest innings I have even seen (was at the ground), given the circumstances and how beaten the bowlers were.

Nice to see him get some milestones because he is going to play a lot of good games without them, is part of the role he plays.

Think he has contributed with the bat, ball or in the field in just about every game he has played.

Current test averages match that of Ben Stokes

And he still has a lot of improvement to come

Either way - if all he does is maintain his current level - then he’s on par with the pre eminent world all rounders

Yeah he was stuck in the 20s and on 29 for ages....I can understand the angst and frustration from the crowd

But he was batting to a plan and that was to hold up an end and get Carey to his ton which he achieved

He was restricted with his power today due to his finger and he did hit many scoring opportunities straight to the fielder

Green did his job today and batted for carey and the overall needs of the side, thank god ones like mark waugh never had leadership roles in the side with him wanting green and starc slogging from ball one likely stranding carey well short of his ton, if we are going to compete in india and england we need more stuff like this from guys grinding a side out of it when we are on top rather than gifting them unearned wickets.

Agreed, I think it was good just to get time in the middle for both ahead of India as they haven’t really had it recently.

I think Greeny will go well in India, he can really knuckle down and bat time in a big way, I’m sure he’ll save our ass a heap of times over his career coming in on a day 5 pitch and seeing out an unlikely draw etc. I really think he’s more suited to being up the order though as a batsmen. As good as Heads been this year I wonder if long term swapping Head and Green in the line up could be the go - when you’re 3 for not many and in strife you’d probably prefer Green (in form) coming in & building an innings whilst Head is more suited to scoring runs quickly with the tail.

Such a formidable middle order we’re building here - Carey really coming on in leaps and bounds now too, impressive innings

Fantastic innings from Green. Bit boring to watch, but that's only because we were so far on top and the stakes felt low - that same innings if we were trying to bat out a draw would be thrilling. In any case, looked rock solid once he got his eye in and adjusted to his finger.

I do wonder if his finger injury made it a bit difficult to place the ball - it's primarily top hand that guides the overall shot, sure, but opening or closing the face of the bat to guide the ball into the gaps might require a bit of bottom hand grip strength. Might explain why he found the field so frustratingly often.

Either way, a guy who can bat time is invaluable. Especially when you've got naturally fast scorers in Head and Carey around him.

I do want to see him at 5. I wonder if that chance might come from Head moving up to open whenever Warner hangs up the bat. Until he gets the chance to score a big ton, I can't see them swapping him and Head, yet while he remains at 6 and Head remains a run-a-ball counter-attacker, it's hard to see him having the time to compile a big ton.

Ironically this match was one of his best chances to do so, before he broke his finger.

His celebration of Carey's ton yesterday said a lot about the character to me. Arms a loft running back when he slapped it through the covers to get the century. I really like the characters of Carey and Green to this side, they seem vey humble and team-first players.

It's great for young kids watching too and having a likeable team to watch. I don't think we've had a more solid batting line-up since the 2006/07 Ashes either.

The talent is crazy. Looks like a 10 year number 4 batter who could also be a world class bowler.

I don’t think he’s looked like he can become a world class bowler in his test career so far, that 5fer aside.

Handy, yes, but not a world class front liner.

He looked a far better bowling prospect for WA prior to his back injury. For some reason he’s lost most of his control, I think he just doesn’t bowl anywhere near as much as he used to as a bowling all-rounder.

He had a better record than Lance Morris does currently after his first season as a 19 year old prior to the injury.

Conversely, he looked a far worse batting prospect prior to his back injury.

Back then I very much thought he was a potential sub 24 test ave bowling prospect, that might average about 30 with the bat.

Now he looks like a 45+ type with the bat, but I reckon he averages closer to 35 with the ball as he gets older.

If he could become consistent enough to be the third seamer, it would provide great possibilities with the side long term.

Bowls a lot of very short spells. Not great for a bowler. Wrecked the English top order in a test in the last ashes series but didn't get a chance to bowl at the tail.

More than capable test cricket bowler.
