It's unfathomable the amount of hatred and bias against Buckley on a public forum. Whether it be his playing career or his coaching career.

Is there anyone else people have wished so much evil towards and pleasure when things haven't gone to plan?

Yeah I am not sure what that's about either. There is a weird narrative against him that seems to be pretty much wrong.

Not rating Buckley as highly as Collingwood supporters is not hatred or bias. It is merely opinion.

Michael Voss is the #1 player since 2000

opps sorry wrong board...... by the way Tommy says hi.:hand:

Apologies to those scratching heads ...its an in joke.

'The only pack Bucks went into was a pack of twisties, Swan has been Eddiewoods best centreman of the last 40 years, and yes I'm old.

Yet from 01 -04 earned more HBG then the much more lauded Voss (Buckley was top 5 in AFL over those years), also broke his jaw going into a hardball in a year he would of won the brownlow if not for missing 8 games with it late 90s.

Shows you didn't watch much of Nathan Buckley or you remember him for his first 2 seasons more then the next 10. People loved to hate Nathan and Pies often clouding their view/opinion of him.

Must have been a hard gig captaining the Lions team, 3 Brownlow medalists in their midfield, All Australian players on every line, hardly ever getting tagged because you're not the most damaging mid in Your own team etc etc.

Yet, he's appartently a better player and captain than Buckley even though as a player he was statistically inferiour in every area and as a captain he got kissed on tbe dick more than any captain before him.

Just our of curiosity, who captained more finals wins out of the 2? Can't be bothered looking it up but it must have been close.

Pretty close. Maybe if you take out the Coll vs Briz games it gets closer ;)

Nick Maxwell had captained more finals wins than Buckley. He must be a better player too.
Wasn't the one making the captaincy argument, just laughing at it backfiring.

FWIW I have Buckley & Voss in the top 5 easily. Both were good goal kickers & had ability to play forward. Huge asset and advantage to just your standard possession gathering mid.

It's an even bigger outrage that he didn't have Lenny Hayes in his list.

He destroyed Selwood when they went head to head as inside mids, he was BOG in the 2009 GF until Bartel tagged him and won the Norm Smith in 2010.
And this is in the same line as what Collingwood supporters argue with Buckley.

If Hayes was a x1 or x2 Premiership captain, I've got no doubt he'd be viewed as one of the best players in the modern era.

But apparently it's his fault he played in GFs with Brett Peake and Robert Eddy instead of AAs in each line.

He was simply asking the question, and I simply answered it. Not trying to add to any arguments.

There's absolutely no doubt both are champions of the game, it's just unfair to be judging the difference in their inidividual careers by Premierships.
