Rd 1. Was mediocre, papers had him in the best for some reason.
Rd 2. Smashed Nick Stevens and kicked 2 goals, at one stage he got Stevens playing FB.
Rd 3. Beat Trav Johnson kicking a goal and getting a couple of assists
Rd 4. Towelled up Mitchell kicking a goal and again forcing Mitchell to be a defender at times.

Go Dinga Ling!! give the Geelong fans the bird when you bag your second after keeping Grant to just 10 possies!

Well Said DanA, his performances to date have been exactly what the "negative ling" posters on this forum have been crying out for from Cameron Ling:
1. Play as a tagger not a tried hard champion midfielder
2. Number 1 priority is to stop opponent, but when he has the ball to KICK FORWARDS
3. Be dangerous and kick a few goals

Tick, Tick, Tick

Hopefully the Ling Baggers can realise how imporatnt he is to our team.

As what has already been stated, I think that most 'Ling Haters' must be looking at themselves right now.

I totally agree with what has been said here, he has gone back to tagging and is just beating his opponent. I think his form has been good thus far.

I hope he keeps it up because he is doing well. Especially with Rooke out seemingly indefinitely.

he still kicks sidewise and gets exposed for his lack of awareness

but yes he has done a good tagging job thus far

You and thegerman... We bagged him because he was not doing those 3 things you mentioned above. He is doign them now, and we are happy.

Simple really. Why would we have to look after ourselves? As supporters of a franchise, we should be able to have a say when soemthing isnt going right. And last year he was pathetic. This year is getting back to his old self, and is looking like he has cut the crap.

yeah should have been your captain instead of harley. scarlett or ling i reckon.
What do you mean by "your"? Don't you barrack for geelong yourself?
If Harley wasn't captain, Chapman should/would be first in line. I am surprised that Bartel isn't in the leadership group considering how much of a star he is.

Is that him though ?? Is that the coaching panel asking him to do that, or perhaps is it because we had so many problems with discipline, injuries and just general consistency that Ling had to be used in different ways ??

Many people can see more outside the box than in. I didn't say to look after yourself, just to have a look 'AT' yourself. It is also within your right to make a call on someone, but unless you've actually donned the jumper, I wouldn't give a crap what you say. Bagging you own team is unproductive, just spurring you to make more bad judgements.

Ling is back to his tagging role, which is what the coaching panel have asked him for.

I have to agree that people are generally happy because he is doing what he does best - tagging good players out of the game. If he plays as a simple midfielder then that is where he is exposed.

If he continues to play his current role well then I think people will, in general, be very happy with his position in the team.

Agree wholeheartedly. Still gets pinged for holding the ball far too much for my liking simply because it looks like he has no idea what to do with it.

Also watched replays of the Carlton and Melbourne games and it seems he instigated the slow, delaying tactics at the end of the first half in both games, and when doing so he ignored players running past into space both times.

But as long as he does a good blanketing job on the opposition's best midfielder he deserves his spot in the side.

I think if we can get Rooke fit and back at his best, those two tagging the oppositions 2 best players will really help our midfielder's enormously

Ling has been caught holding the ball twice this year so don't know about far too much.

Ling has generally moved the ball quickly and kicked long to a good target this year. Please give the man his dues, he has earnt them.

Watch the Carlton game, got caught four times also watch the other games.

So far he has done what is needed except poor decision making and footskills. watch the Carlton game, does still hold the game up and sometimes this is good sometimes this is bad especially when our talls are leading into space and want early delivery. Chip Chip does not make it easy for them.

Has a lack of leg speed and he needs to realise this, gets caught as he appears to have no awareness. Start doing these thigs better and people will accept his small errors better

4 times? He has only had 4 frees against him this year. I distinctly remember one time he was caught holding the ball was bullshit against Carlton near half forward but that was balanced out by getting away with one at half back in the same game.

His kicking has been very good. Sure the odd mistake and probably a few more than that in the first game (like that kick to Charlie at CHF). Since then he has been very good with his kicking and I think has been one of our best in this area this year.

Definitely lacks leg speed, that goal he kicked where he had the run up the 50 looked in slow motion. The odd occasion it has shown up, at one stage Trav Johnson burnt him off to get open for a goal but I think he has managed it pretty well.

Give him his kudo!!!

So we are nto allowed to point what we think are faults? :thumbsd:

chappy u serious? bartel is not the brightest kid on the block but gun player - no leader there. bartel and scarlett are key position players, so are much more valuable to geelong, plus ling seems to play well when we get pumped.

How can you possibly say that Bartel and Chapman are not leaders. There most would be nobody in the geelong side I would rather have as our captain or vice captain than those two guys
