The main board had a thread saying he was offered 1 week.

I think the nail was hit on the head when talking about fitness and form. When he's hot he's hot, when he's not he's not. He's just gotta stay out of trouble and get into form, at the moment we can carry him, but he needs to stand up in the next few weeks and start playing like he did last year.

I agree with the comment that he's victimised by the umpires because of who he is, but having said that, he needs to pull his head in.

Very, very hard on Moons there!

It is harsh, but I reckon it is warranted - don't get me wrong I am not condemming the guy, I just want him to get his head right and pour out his aggression on the ball and not the umpire/players. He IS a good player and an important cog in our team structure but he needs to curb his aggression away from everything around him and concentrate on getting back to the form that saw him finish in the top 5 in our B&F last year.

Victimised or not he doesnt have to do it, and thats the bottom line. Hes going to get a week or two on the sidelines as a result and will hopefully learn from it, although I'd seriously doubt he will.

I understand we expect a lot of these guys, but seriously, if you were being victimised by the umpires every time you went near the ball, would you be able to restrain yourself?

If so, you're a better man than i.

Obviously he needs to be professional, but i wholeheartedly understand his anger and frustration.

still my fav player. he knows he did wrong on MMM. but hes a legend and the sorta player we neeed if we r gonna tak out the flag

Mooney is easily my favourite player, and is a top bloke.

I love the way he plays, and he is awesome on the ground for intimidation, something the catters need to be a good side.

Commentators love him

He may not be a Judd but he is an excitement machine in his own class

I am talking mostly in respect to Mooney swinging the arm, there probably wasnt much in the 50. If he was being victimised every time h goes near the ball his rpeort wouldve been thrown out because there was nothing in it, clearly their was and he didnt need to do it.

It is selfish on his behalf when he puts his emotions before the team. Expect what you want of them, but I expect them to get on with the job and not give away undisciplined free kicks.

Take Steven King for example, he has had a hard time with the new ruck rule and given away a fair amount of free kicks. But he hasnt cracked it he has worked hard on his game and now is playing really well.

The fact people accept what Mooney did on the weekend is sad, and possibly only he doesnt come under more scrutiny because we won. If itd been the Grand Final or we had lost everyone would be irate. It should be the same for this occassion as well.

He deserved to be penalised, you can't argue that he didn't make contact.

He would be very intimidating to play on and I personally like his style, its just the price you pay for having him in the team.

He's worth it imo.

When the siren goes, I noticed he totally switches off and is the first to shake hands with the opposition.

Its just his style of game.

Should Mooney be thrown in the ruck for a bit?

Then new centre circle rule has probably killed any hope of it happening but he might just relish it again. At least that way he can crash and bash without having to worry as much? He really apeared to love the opportunity last year and it helped his form and gave him confidence and belief in his worth. Now I am not talking about long stints just maybe 5 minutes here and there.

AGREED 100% Thats the point I tried to make in an earlier post! ;)

I wouldn't do it.

Rucking last year caused him so many injury woes, woes that have affected his game this year.

Not worth ruining him for next year as well.

Why not run him in the ruck to try and get him into a bit of form. I think our forward line is much more lethal with Otto playing out of the square (even though he has been great when King rests) so why not leave him there and run Mooney in the ruck for 5 mins at the end of each quarter to get his confidence back?

Yeah good point, but I thought that Mooney's good form last year came from the confidence he got in the first 6 weeks, when he was praised so highly for his efforts in the ruck. I know we can't put him back in the ruck, but what can we dor for his confidence? Play Collingwood? (Cheap shot..yeah...hihihi) He's had a small injury, a bit of poor form, and really doesn't look like a solid player for us.
I thought that if he didn't get suspended, then we should drop him anyway. But then again...it's not like a run in the 2's does him any good! :)
He's a real enigma, this one...last year, me and ScottyDeewah were saying he could end up being one of the most versatile players in the league...Forward, back, crash n bash in the centre bounces, good hussle at stoppages.
He still needs a bit of time this year to get going, but at the moment, just doesn't have his head screwed on right.
