*Mooney was selected All australian in 07
*we won the flag in 07
*Mooney, kelly and stokes were found to be good enough to be selected in there representative sides.
*Essendon are still terrible, collingwood are pretenders, west coast are gone and port adelaide are soft when it counts!

It's a mystery, i hear geelong fans saying that he got in because of the amount of goal assist he had, but if you look at what winty said previously

Last year Mooney kicked 67 goals, but set up 24. Franklin may have kicked 73, but he only set up 12, and Lucas kicked 61 and set up 18

You see that mooney had 24 assist from 25 games, lucas had 18 from 22 and Franklin 12 from 22 games. Now im sure his figures would be less taking out the 3 extra games (especially the farce that was the Grand Final). Mooney also kicked less goals than both Lucas and Franklin at the end of the H&A season. Then you take into account the class of geelongs midfield and it makes Mooney's selection look like a bit of a joke. Sure he played an important part for Geelong last year but it was a part that even Q Lynch could have done.

Geelong destroyed the second best side in the comp. That isn't farcical, that is the truth.

If we go by averages, and took out the three games, then the assists would still be higher than the other players you mentioned.

That's a bit harsh. Have a look at that 99 North side. I don't think Mooney got all that much ground time. He was wet behind the ears playing in the team of the nineties at the peak of their powers, what do you expect Cam to do..replace Carey??

Gets more inside 50 and up the ground hit up chances than the other forwards. Delivery is also sublime!
