i think there was a point in the game when mooney thought, fugg this i cant get the ball, im going hurt something (maxwell).

i was hoping he would have ran through didak, would have been worth the four weeks. bring back the real moooondog;)

what's your point?

some of the arguments people post on Big Footy are hilarious...

totally irrelevant how MANY Free kicks they have received...

It's how many THEY SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED...

My point is that if "you only have to place a finger on lloyd or look at reiwoldt the wrong way and they get a free" then they would have a lot more frees wouldn't they?

mooney needs a rest

He wasnt 100% on Friday night.

Bring on Lonergan/ Scott Simpson.

Its your time to shine. These guys are better leading targets than Mooney, who i think needs one week rest. He is clearly Struggling.

We cant keep blaming the umpires for mooneys obvious poor form. Its simple, you get in front, you either get the ball or a free kick. Sure they're not always going to pay them and often they're always going to pay the ones that aren't really there. Its been happening for 100 years, aint going to stop now.
Mooneys lost some of the aggression, the 1 percenters and his skills have wained a little. It wont take much for him to get back to it. Maybe its a reasonable sacrifice to run through someone, maybe cop a week or two to a) freshen up, b) get a new perspective of the whole game and c) to get that fear back in the other players that when the moondog is on song - stay the hell away!

Re: mooney needs a rest

Just because he's out of form doesn't mean he's injured.

If you think he needs a rest after 9 rounds i'd hate to see what he'll be like towards the end of the year.

It's not like he's been running 10-20 km's a game is it.

I'm pretty confident he'll get out of his form slump soon and start kickin some major butt

l don't moons has been that bad he's game against Richmond was good and his game Vs Collingwood was ok he wasn't the worst one out there, sum of the kicking into the forward has been shocking, and with johnson been down last few weeks, and hawkins will take some time to be the player we want him to be.....cam moons needs some support

Re: mooney needs a rest

Even though it was just 1 loss, i think Friday night demonstrated a couple of things that i've been worried about all year.

I reckon Cam Mooney is now better suited to Full Forward, rather than CHF and I reckon his lack of form this year has been partly because he hasn't had Nathan Ablett around him.

Hawkins is your classical stay at home full forward at the moment because he hasn't got the engine to go up the ground. Nathan could push up the ground and give Cam space inside 50 which he used to great effect last year. At the moment, i reckon we've got 2 full forwards and no CHF.

Maybe not this week because we're playing the leakiest defence in the competition bar Essendon, but i reckon Hawkins needs a rest, perhaps those two interstate games over the split round might be a good time to rest him up a bit and give Lonergan a go as a lead-up CHF and put Mooney in the goal square where he has the freedom to take hangers all day.

The other thing that i reckon seriously needs attention is our midfield, Corey, Gazza and Enright got plenty of the ball on Friday, yet we were smashed going inside 50 on the night.

Chappy coming in will rectify this hopefully this week, Bartel is either injured or needs a rocket, Im assuming he's injured. Kelly again needs to pull his finger out.

Very concerning, because top teams don't usually crumble like that.

Re: mooney needs a rest

Mooney needs our Midfield to stop being complete clowns... :thumbsd:

yea look at our mids we are meant to have the best in the comp but look at the kicks going into the forward 50 and we have no numbers around the pill
and no midfield pressure l hope they all get a rocket this week

I doubt Mcveigh (Sydney) would agree he's lost his aggression. In fact he does stuff like that all the time (and did it on Friday night). It's only a couple of weeks ago people were saying that Moons was going too far and was pushing the line, and that he should pull his head in.

And it isn't a matter of blaming the umpires, although it's amazing some of the stuff that you see - almost every game even the commentators make some sort of remark about Mooney being smacked in the head, pushed in the back, or held and the umpire not noticing/caring.

His kicking has been off, his marking has been ok to excellent (in the Richmond game), and his one percenters have been pretty good too.

I agree that he'll be fine, don't agree that he needs to be reported though: that just attracts more attention to him, making him more likely to be reported in the future.

too true, i actually thought the midfield was kicking it to pies defenders (wakelin must have pulled on cats jumper with the amount of kicks going to him) more than mooney/hawkins.

mooney played well considering the delivery and limited chances he had.

Do you think the players got confused as to which jumpers were Geelong ones and which were Collingwood ones? I know I did.

Re: mooney needs a rest

Why is that suddenly after a loss, half the team are injured (according to many supporters)?

Its easier to blame poor form on injuries than the player, thats why. Mooney has been bad for most of the year... doesn't look like he's there mentally like he was last year + his marking / kicking has been garbage as mentioned.

I still think the AA selection he got over Reiwoldt was strange.
