From your post on the main board.

At the risk of giving that old chestnut "culture" an airing, can anyone tell me why it is that Fremantle supporters, who pay their hard-earned cash to support their club, should share their CEO's contented feeling at this juncture?

Not sure how many supporter/members share his view.

Considering I wasnt at the pre lunch speech i only have your interpretaion of his speech.

If he mentioned "despite all the bagging the Dockers had been getting from the media, I would be surprised. My own thoughts are there has been a truce declared and I doubt he would inflame it again.

As for the "Board of Directors were "very content" with the way their season has progressed this year. " While the Board would like to see Fremantle better placed in win/loss ratio they also look at the overall managemant structure and profit outlook. Obviusly Fremantle will make a profit again this year.

Therefore the average supporter might not be happy with his comments if they were regarding on field success but still be happy that our Club is still financially strong and on track for a big year in '06.

He sounds like a politician/salesman because 6-9 and 11th spot when the side is expected to do much better and should do much better is not a happy position to be at (stating the bleeding obvious).
That's what I thought. It sounded like spin but I could hardly keep a straight face. If it's just spin for the sponsors I guess that's something, but surely management can't be "content" at this point.

His exact words were along the lines of "our performance both on and off the field this year has been widely commented on by the media, but despite this we're very content with the way our season has progressed."

Yeah, he could have been talking about it from a profit/loss perspective, but the way it came across it sounded like he was talking about on-field performance.

I for one am glad the Dockers are doing well financially, and would like to see them have some on-field success to match that (though not at the expense of the Eagles, of course).

Anyway thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.
