I'd still replace one of Duffield or him for a Nick Smith type small defender if we had one (Puopolo did kick four goals), but we don't so it's a moot point.

I'd be replacing Spurr with the defender you're talking about... as that's the role that Spurr is supposed to be playing.

Played very well, even though I don't really rate him

Pearce played great as well, minus a few kicks

I don't get it. Why exactly don't you rate him?

He has been one of our most consistent performers this year. I agree with Lyon, he is an "automatic". Gives us so much run from defense, sets up goals starting from half back, gets a lot of penetration with his kicking, has done very well playing on dangerous forwards and rarely makes any errors. You know exactly what you're going to get from Sutty. Sutcliffe hasn't even cracked 50 games yet and he's playing like an experienced senior player. Massive kudos to him. RTB DOESNT PLAY YOOF.

Spurr hasn't had a great year this year. Let Puopolo kick 4 goals which isn't good enough.

Trade suban and sheridan to Melbourne for something good....No guesses ;)

Sutty is the newest addition to the fremantle heart. De boer 2.0 effort.

There is an ilk of dockers that are workhorse. I think thats where the "blue collar" tag comes in. Agree he plays football at a veteran temperament already.

I was trying to keep a close eye on who was matched up against Breust... only saw the first half, so wasn't sure who was matched up on Puopolo and Breust for most of the game.

I think it was Sutty on Breust and Spurr on Puopolo. Although, at times, Breust was matched up on MJ.

Well, that's more than slightly terrifying... if Spurr let Puopolo kick 4 on him, imagine the damage that could have been done if he'd been matched up on Breust.

To be fair, Puopolo did have a couple of gimmies though - that one in the goal square against Fyfe and that other one that Breust nearly f**ked up.

Very consistent but I'm still not convinced his kicking is a strength, definite best 22 and should play 150 games for us.

His fitness is incredible.
His kicking isn't his strength? What the? After Hill, he's the best kick in the team. Especially over a long distance. Makes good decisions too.

Told you all so from his first appearance at Pre season that he would the best of our draftees of that year;)
When they did one of the episodes of the "grill" last year one of the questions was "who is the best young player at the club" - Overwhelmingly it was Cams name that came up. I distinctly remember Keplar saying "Cam Sutcliffe, that guy is going to be good. Seriously good". Words to that effect, anyway.

OK so it wasn't an episode of the grill, it was the 'burning question'. Sutty got a few mentions, but not as many as I remember. Keplar definitely rates him though. Still got a good number of mentions though. And they were right!

doubt keps at your own peril !!!

No he isn't - And for what its worth I think Walters and Mundy are the best kicks (along with Hill)
BUT - He's bloody good....

He consistently puts very accurate passes on the chest of team mates, even under pressure. The pass to Mundy last week was one example of that. Cam made some ridiculously good passes yesterday. Mundy is a very good kick, but I reckon Cam is better. Like you say, he's bloody good. I'll admit (unsurprisingly) Mundy is the superior player though. Walters is a freak that I didn't think about, but we don't get to see his field kicking enough (due to his position) to really say for sure if he's better or not. I'd have to say though, Mick does have a deadly left boot and I wouldn't be surprised if he's a better kick than even Hill. But the point was that the original statement that "I'm not sure if Cams kicking is a strength" is ludicrous.

I agree re the ludicrous call.
On the other - the thing that Walters has with his kicks is the correct weight - with every kick. Just seems to float them when they need to float, stab them when they need to stab etc etc. Just a lovely exponent of the art of kicking.

Yeah I don't think it works that way. Spurr, Sutcliffe, Duffield etc all seemed to roll off at times so I'm not sure that Spurr was on Poop the entire game.

Just minor mistakes which have caused teams to score against us, really frustrating.

He wouldn't be the only one to make mistakes resulting in opposition goals. Duffield, MJ, Spurr etc are all senior players and often make silly errors in the back half. You gotta put it into perspective and remember how young Sutcliffe is and how little he has played in comparison to players like Duffield and MJ and see that he's holding up pretty well.

Perfected kicking the footy around Bushby St, into the neighbours rubbish bins.
