Re: Cameron Wood

It is understood the Pies have offered pick 14 (for Cameron Wood) in next month's national draft, but Brisbane rate Wood higher than that and also want a player, possibly defender Rhys Shaw.
Wood was overtaken in the pecking order this year by draftee Matthew Leuenberger and has expressed interest in seeking greater opportunities elsewhere. The Magpies' ruck stocks are thin and they were looking at Wood and Docker Robert Warnock to compliment Josh Fraser and Guy Richards.
It is believed Wood won out and the two clubs have agreed in principle to the trade and are close to finalising a deal.
Wood is rated highly at Brisbane and coach Leigh Matthews is loath to see him go.
But with Jamie Charman, Leuenberger and dual premiership tap ruckman Beau McDonald on the books, the four-time premiership coach understands the 21-year-old's plea to be traded to a club where he will get regular senior games.

COLLINGWOOD flanker Rhyce Shaw appears destined for Brisbane in a three-way deal related to the futures of Lion ruckman Cameron Wood and Melbourne midfielder Travis Johnstone.
What was a relatively straight-forward transaction on Tuesday, with Wood coming to Collingwood for pick 14 and the Lions trading the selection to Melbourne for Johnstone, got complicated yesterday.
Shaw, the son of former Magpies captain Ray Shaw and brother of defender Heath, became entangled in the deal.
The Lions at first wanted Ryan Lonie and pick 14, but when Lonie declined to move and the Lions asked for Shaw, Collingwood asked for an exchange of second-round picks (25 for 31). It is this request that is believed to be holding up the deal.
The Magpies entertained Wood yesterday and remain confident of bringing the 20-year-old to Victoria, in part because Johnstone, who flew to Brisbane yesterday, has agreed to join the Lions.
Brisbane now needs Collingwood's selection to consummate the Johnstone deal with Melbourne.

On the third day of official player trading, Melbourne midfielder Travis Johnstone may have found a new home at the Gabba in a deal that largely depends on Collingwood swapping its first-round draft selection, No14 overall, to Brisbane in return for Lions ruckman Cameron Wood.
The trading for Wood appears set to go through because the Magpies yesterday informed preliminary final ruckman Guy Richards that his contract would not be renewed.
Collingwood had earlier held an interest in untried 200cm Sydney ruckman Daniel Currie.
If the Pies recruit Wood with their first pick, Brisbane will on-trade selection No14 to the Demons for Johnstone, the club's best-and-fairest winner in 2005.
Part of that deal would involve Melbourne paying a percentage of Johnstone's 2008 remuneration of about $400,000.
