Jolly has runs on the board that's the difference.

Runs on the board wont save his knee.

Wood has played as well if not better than Jolly this year and last year. You can only beat the opponent you are presented with. If you do your job ouve done your job.

Next week its West and hes no superstar either. There are actually not a lot of Sandilands running around. Wood just needs to be competitive.

Wood did well last night. Actually even looked in an aggressive frame of mind.
He was in a no win situation anyway, play like shit and get shitcanned, played okay still get shitcanned because he was up against a kid.

The right spot for Witts and Ceglar is in the VFL until they develop. Its a credit to Collingwoods list management that we dont have to play these kids before they are ready.
.
Wood is our best ruckman and hes doing his job by being competitive. He has lacked opportunity over the years due to our one ruck policy. He will improve with game time. Hes a better option than Jolly who needs to be nursed though the season.

I think what you mearnt was Jolly "HAD" runs on the board and he certainly did but if you look at the form of both the gap is not so large now and if we are honest about this we would recognize this as truth,Jolly has been great for Collingwood and he more than any other player won us 2010 flag but his form since hurting his knee and his other injuries is not what it was and he is becoming more injury prone and that cannot be denied.

If jolly is not ready this week do not play him we need him for finals but we also may need Wood and we were found out last season with unfit players, this is one area where Buckley has it all over MM like it or not.

I think he will always be a poor second to whomever our 1st Ruck is.

There's the problem right there, he's not a 2nd ruck, he's a first. If you look back at all games where he's performed well I think you'll find most of them are when he was the 1st ruck (i.e. Jolly or Fraser out).

I think from memory he Jolly was out last year against the Eagles at the G and I was like "shit Nic Nat and Cox are gonna kill Woody" but he more than held his own. Also remember going to a game in Adelaide in late 2009 when he was the only ruck played and it was probably the best game I've seen him play. If he keeps improving each week as 1st ruck, it might be difficult to find room for Jolly.

Jolly could potentially be pretty damaging if spending most time in the forward 50 and pinch-hitting in the ruck, ala David Hale. Now there's a thought.

The positive from last night was that Wood actually showed a bit of aggression, not much, but some. As mentioned he was up against an 18yr old, so he should play a good game.

I'd rank Wood's game as better than any performance Jolly has given us this year. He deserves to keep his spot in the side. It's bloody hard to do well unless given a fair opportunity. We're hard to please aren't we?

I'd like to see him given the job against Geelongon last nights performance, if only to show we have confidence in him.
It could be the step up he needs.
