Then why even spruik that we are after one....if not an experienced one then I don't understand why you put the faith and bucket loads of developmental work into Maric/Meesen.

What has been said today has discouraged Maric/Meesen not encouraged them to work harder.........shocking message......bad player management!

BTW if you have watched Griffin play for Centrals it's obvious there is no way he could play next season!!!
Hang on a minute. Graham Cornes came on 5AA and said that Craig was meeting with Gardiner in Melbourne today.

Half an hour later John Reid came on and laughed at the suggestion that we are even considering Gardiner and said that Craig had player meetings all day today and he just walked out of his office. He was not im Melbourne today and we don't plan on speaking to Gardiner or Everitt. Ch7 news later ran the story that Cornesy "broke" but it wasn't a meeting today but when Gardiner returns from his over-season holidays.

Now, JR talked about our ruck stocks and gave a glowing report on Griffin. He had back injury early in the pre-season which prevented him from doing any weights and putting on the weight. What you forget is that Griffin was drafted as a LONG term project and the club was very aware that it would be a long time before he paid off. Nothing has changed. When you find a promising ruckman you don't throw him away because he won't be ready to play AFL in his 3rd season.

AFC have ALWAYS liked Griffin's potential and nothing has changed from that aspect. Just because that doesn't fit with your views doesn't make it poor list management. Four ruckman is a good number to have on a 40 player list. Three of those players can play AFL next year. Why do we need to worry whether Griffin can play next year or not.

You hang crap on people that dare suggest Gibson gets delisted but Griffin is in a very similar situation and he was ALWAYS going to take longer with his body shape.

Heard the interview and it sounded as if there was some meaning in the story

This from the same guy who said on radio Roo had heppatitus.......his credibility is need of some repair regarding rumours. Cornes may have erred in the timing of the proposed meeting with Gardiner....but there's a bit of smoke and you know what that means

Iam so sick of this line....he's long term project player....bunkem:mad: ....haven't seen one long term project player come to fruition....it's spin doctoring

Don't disagree with 4 ruckman on a list....I disagree vehemently with 6 ruckmen on the list.....do your sums and you'll see iam right.

Don't discount Biglands due to injury because that's only one year.....recruit another ruckman and that's 6

He is a skinny talented rake.....my assessment and I'll be happy to proved wrong is it's a waste of a list spot as I don't think he can put on the weight (see Stevens)

How about a bloody key forwrd

I think you've reacted angrily simply because you read Stiffy_18's post wrong.

We are unlikely to be recruiting another ruckman this off-season; I think you read it as likely.

Griffen will stay, and we'll have 4 ruckman. Despite what you say, Biglands doesn't count because he won't play at all next year. At the end of next year anything could happen. Griffen could prove himself a total dud and be cut, Hudson might get injured again, both Maric and Meesen may want to go home.

Not quite correct Stiffy.

He did laugh off suggestions that Craig had met with Gardiner today. But he never laughed off the suggestion that we are even considering Gardiner.

Like WW, I got the impression that it wasn't totally discounted as part of our future agenda.

Why rule it in or out? I see no need for the club to make any intentions known to the media.

If we clearly state that we are not interested in Gardiner and fail to be drawn on other players when questioned, everyone will read something into that. So better not to commit either way.

They wouldn't be doing their job unless they at least had a informal talk to him. I think the four ruckman we have can do the job next year, there will be some pain but we need that for long term gain. I wouldn't be against sticking another Ruckman on our Rookie list though.

hepa = latin for liver. titis = latin for inflammation.
Thus hepatitis = an inflamed liver which is what Roo had.

John Reid should just have said he had an inflamed liver, but because he said hepatitis everyone panicked. No loss of credibility there, just a poor choice of words.
