Surprise, surprise... Rudd is going to set up a "council":

"Mr Rudd did commit to establishing a National Housing Supply Research Council if Labor came to power in this year's election, to analyse the adequacy of construction and land supply for the next 20 years."

What has Howard done other than to spuriously blame the States for not releasing enough land!

I can't wait for his Council for Oversights of Ombudsman's Council for Review of The Oversupply of Councils.

Yep, would hate to see any intellectual thought go into these problems. We're far better off with political kneejerk responses and ill thought out strategies. I mean why would anyone want to consult anyone who might actually have a clue?

Next thing you'll be telling me that Helen Coonan actually has a grasp of her portfolio and isn't just parroting from a script.

So he is telling people what he is going to do and actually talk about the problem and find solutions maybe?

As opposed to a Howard "surprise surprise" and bringing in workchoices in with no debate.

Another way of looking into it without using Bracksy's mirror

When you've been around for a while, you've seen all this bullshit before.

What is there to believe in from either side? They don't believe in anything anymore (except advancing or continuing their power), so why should I?

Hating both sides isn't fence sitting.

And it's a bit sad for you if you believe that Rudd's stunts are anything more than that. If it gets him elected, good luck to him, but Rudd is the cynical one here.

This movement of camsmith's comment about housing to a new thread seems vindictive and a pathetic attempt, as camsmith indicates, at retribution in some measure.

Pathetic.

Sad I know but I so much want to believe that someone is more honourable than that lying prick we have in power now. I know deep down I'll probably be dissapointed but hey, no harm done.

Sorry for the old coot remark though:thumbsu:

Yeah right up there with invading foreign countries and shooting doctors that perform abortions. If this wasn't online, I'm sure the "Chief" would have had him thrown to the lions..

Re: Thread Movement

afc, like I seem to be screaming out at the footy, all I want here is some CONSISTANCY.

If I posted something off topic, tell me in the thread, or PM me. Dont grandstand and start a new thread because of it. Chief would be creating at least 20 threads a week from people posting stuff which is deemed not entirely on topic with the threads subject.

How often threads about the US or like wise gets hijacked by the usual suspects on here and turns into a "the Iraq war is illegal.." etc.. when thats not even the subject. Yet do we see our savour Chief go to the trouble of posting that in a whole new thread with a title that doesn't even address the subject? Of course not.

Btw, Chief you clown, you derailed this thread before you even started it with the "Camsmith's Derailing Central" title. Hypocrite.

Now please, delete this thread. I didn't start it, I dont want it.

Hero.

Cam, I was actually only having a dig at ITN really. I actually do agree that it seems pretty petulant and you're certainly not the only one who goes off topic.

Re: Thread Movement

Fair enough, ITN backed me up so I can only do the same. :)

Only the first line of my post was directed at you, btw.

One more thing Chief, we have a new section in "Society, Religion and Politics", wouldn't this personal vendetta thread fit perfectly in there?

Pfft.

You posted some random political scoff in a thread about being sick of people talking about their homes and renovations at social gatherings.
You've now set the precident of creating a new thread every time someone goes slightly off topic.

Hope you have a lot of spare time on your hands.

Also, if thats truly what the thread was about, wouldn't it be better off on the "lifestyle" board? Especially if you didn't want a political slant to it?

So now you've done your grandstanding (again) and shown everyone how powerful you are (again), can you please delete this thread as I didn't create it and dont want it here. Thanks.

Re: Is anybody else sick of housing talk?

The same people gloating about housing profits will soon be bemoaning diminishing same. The RE bubble has burst in the US and is migrating to the UK and elsewhere. So many amatuer investers have been lured into the market by the RE meme and they are geared to the hilt. They they will ***t themselves when the worm is turned by a combination of changes in policy by the Reserve Bank (Interest Rates) and Government (Tax). The result will be 'Tulipomania' once again.
How dare you actually talk about housing in a thread only about talking about people who talk about housing.

FWIW, the only house talk I hear is the TV show.

No, I've just decided I didn't want to hear your BS in a particular thread and have created a thread for any such occasions in the future. Not fair, is it?
I wouldn't expect any less from you.

If that's the case and you have decided to create this thread, please have your name as thread creator - not mine.

So much for clearing the main page of pointless trolling threads.
