Welcome to the Can-Am Premiership 2018 Pre-Season thread.

The 2018 season is due to kick off towards the end of June or early July. The time between allows for teams to confirm their entry, propose relocation or re-branding, or propose to enter the competition. Plus it will give people time to work on their entries in an attempt to reduce the number of entries submitted on or after the deadline.

With that we are now on the road to

Can-Am%20Bowl%20IV%20Logo_zps9bklmhom.png

The following posts feature relevant information and the requirements for all teams in terms of designs, as well as relevant logos.

OFFICIAL UNIFORM GUIDE
  • All guernseys MUST be Adidas branded and feature the Adidas 3 stripes somewhere on the Guernsey (position is up to the designer and may change across all three designs). The Adidas logo may also be positioned wherever the designer chooses so long as it appears on the guernsey and is clearly visible (can also be included on a jock tag or inside the collar, but only in addition to the main logo). Adidas logo must also feature on the shorts (right side facing).
  • All designs (Home, Away, Can-Am 2) must be on the same template.
  • Home Guernseys must be at least 51% white.
  • Home Shorts may be any colour.*
  • Home Socks must be at least 33% white.
  • Away Guernseys must be at least 51% coloured.
  • Away Shorts may be any colour, including being the same as the home.*
  • Away Socks must be at least 33% coloured, cannot be the same as the Home
  • Can-Am 2 Guernsey may be anything, outlandish designs are encouraged.
  • Can-Am 2 Shorts may be any colour, should not be the same design as Home and/or Away.*
  • Can-Am 2 Socks may be any colour, should not be the same design as Home or Away.

*Shorts may be the same design across the two designs (Home and Away) if the designer chooses to do so.
  • Sponsor to appear in usual AFL front position (right side facing)
  • Player name to appear below the number on the back (usual sponsor position)
  • Numbers on the back must feature number logo (found here).
  • Numbers must appear on the front of the guernsey, same font as back, cannot be more than 50% the size of the back, number colour does not need to match the back.
  • Number must appear on the shorts (left side facing), same font as back of the guernsey, size no larger than 50% of the back number, colour does not need to match back number.
  • Conference logo must appear above number on the back (cannot be recoloured)
  • Champions logo (found here) must appear on Indiana* and Miami** kits only (Not on Can-Am 2 kit). (*As Indiana is relocating they may retain the champions logo on their teams kits, **Even though Miami has won 2 titles they will still wear just 1 star when they resume in the competition).
  • Team logos are now required for Can-Am team as a separate image, Can-Am 2 teams logo must appear on kit presentation image.
NO DESIGNS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR SUBMISSION UNTIL A NOTIFICATION IS MADE, however I will now allow people to ask if a design is ok and meets guidelines. However do not expect an immediate response. I will try and get back to you as soon as possible but this may not always be possible.

New for 2018
Can-Am%202%20Logo%20sm_zpsjg3siunl.png

For the 2018 season the alternate kit will be removed from the design set. It will be replaced with a new element to the Can-Am, Can-Am 2.

This is like the minor leagues in Canadian and American sports. This season all franchises will be required to submit a home (still predominantly white) kit, an away (coloured) kit, and a developmental team kit as well as logos for both teams (main franchise as a separate image, developmental within the kits image).

As this is a trial season for this idea I am restricting Can-Am 2 teams locations to close to their main franchises locations (so within the franchises city limits or near the city if there are other franchises located nearby, or within the franchises state or province if the franchise has no other franchises within the same state/province) as to not have people overlap as no-one will need to publicly announce where their second team will be located. Franchises can use another locations name (be it city, suburb or state/province depending on what other franchises are nearby) or take the route or some MLS teams in forming a second team with a 2 at the end (e.g. Portland Timbers, LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders who have a 2 or II team).

So using the Winnipeg True North as an example, they could have a Winnipeg True North 2/II or a Manitoba (team name), whereas the San Francisco Bloodhorns couldn't use California as there is a team in Los Angeles. However if 2 teams are located in the same state/province they can negotiate a way to work around this issue, e.g. San Francisco could use Golden State and LA could use California or SoCal.

The Can-Am 2 team will still use their main franchises conference logo on their kits and the design can be anything (light or dark kit) so long as it still features the Adidas 3 stripes and is on the same template as the other 2 designs.

Submission of entries:

Entry submissions close on Saturday 30 June 2018, 11:59:59pm AEST.

Entries must be submitted through PM, any image hosting site is acceptable (even Photobucket), however links will NOT be accepted, the PM must contain your entry as an image, if you send just links or images acting as links, they will not be counted and penalties may apply if the mistake is not corrected prior to the closing of entries. Also please check you entries with the guidelines (which can be found in the OP) before submitting as I would like to not have to tell people that they have not met the criteria when they are clearly stated.

When submitting please use the PM title: 2018 Can-Am Entry: *Replace with your team name*. This will allow me to quickly and easily find your submission should any issues arise.

Also as you have a month and a half to submit and have had plenty of time to work on your designs up until this point, penalties this year for not submitting on time will be more severe than last year.

Failure to submit or failure to submit correctly before closing will face the following penalties:

Days 1-2: Automatic 2 losses counted on team record for every day late. (Day 2 = 4 losses total)

Day 3: Unable to finish 1st in Conference no matter final record.

Days 4-5: Automatic 2 losses counted on team record for every day late. (Day 5 = 8 losses total)

Day 6: Unable to finish in the top 4 in Conference no matter final record (can only qualify as a 5th and 6th placed wild card).

Day 7: Unable to qualify for finals no matter final record.

Day 8: Automatic exclusion from future competition.

2018 Team Update:
Cincinnati will be remaining in its current location, but taking on a new moniker.
The Cincinnati Chargers will be taking in the 2018 season with the colours of Black (instead of charcoal), Yellow and White

The Minors team will drop the yellow for sky blue and adopt the name of Cincinnati Colts.

BREAKING: Cannons Owner caloschwaby has begun talks with the league to initiate the process of relocating the team from Cleveland to Toronto.

It is unlikely they will keep their original moniker as owner caloschwaby stated he'd "like to distance [himself] from the kind of footy [the team] played last year". Understandably so, as the Cleveland Cannons only recorded a single win in their inaugural season.

No clear statement has been made as to what the new moniker will be, although the leading favourites include the "6ers" and the "Torpedos".

No news as of yet on the CAN-AM 2 team.

An update should be expected as more news is released closer to the season's start.

BREAKING

Wisconsin will be going into it's 2nd season of the Can-Am Premiership, however a leak from a recent annual manager meeting has suggested that the team is looking into re-branding it's team. The Bears will be running a poll among its members to see what new moniker is most preferred. The re brand proposals are: Warriors, Wombats, Miners, Wild and Wagons. The team would like to see the publics' opinion on the re brand before it makes any further decision on the matter.

What do you guys think of the proposed re brand names?

is this your retirement comeback?

TBH - it’s been a pretty piss poor hiatus given I’ve still been designing.

Made some Vice concepts that I was pretty happy with so figured f**k it, may as well go for it.

Washington Update:
The Washington Hawks will be moving south to New Orleans for season 2018, along with a rebrand to the Rattlesnakes. The navy, red and white colour scheme will be dumped in favour of maroon, black and bone.
The Snake's Can-Am 2 team has not been locked in yet, but will be announced when known.

are we allowed to submit bids here - or somewhere else?

Bids will be posted in here, but only after all previous entrants have confirmed their involvement/withdrawal as those people have priority over locations and these need to be set before others can attempt to claim new areas.
